    3. JOHN D. WALKER The Vidette February 1, 1912 John D. Walker The subject of this notice was born near Greensboro, Ala., in 1825 and died January 30th, 1912. He was married to Miss Caroline Sellers in 1844. He moved to Tishomingo County in 1850, lived on Cripple Deer near New Warrenton first and one year near Pleasant Site, and in 1857 settled on Indian Creek, near the Tennessee river, in which community he resided until his death. He was too old for active service in the Great War, but served for a while in the militia under Capt. Jack Akers. He was a faithful and consistent member of the Methodist church for at least 50 years. He had been feeble for three or four years. He knew that his lease of life had expired but he was not afraid to die. When the change came he was fully prepared and passed away in the blessed hope of future happiness with his beloved Saviour. He leaves a devoted companion, his faithful wife, on whom the shadow of approaching dissolution is resting; also eight children living, three boys and five girls, one dead. He has living about 175 descendants in children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was laid to rest at Indian Creek graveyard on the 31st inst, the funeral service being conducted by Rev. H.
