McKinney, J. Dave Published in: The Vidette Date of Publication: February 29, 1912 Dave McKinney Dead Mr. J. D. McKinney died at his home east of town on the 24th inst. aged about 40 years. Dave was born and reared in that neighborhood and was considered a good citizen. He handled dynamite and giant powder for many years at the gravel pit and it was thought his death resulted from inhaling the poisonous gases of these explosives. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and W. O. W. and had insurance in the latter order to the amount of $2,000. He was buried Monday at Mt. Pleasant Church, 2 miles east of Iuka, on the Eastport road.
