    2. That is such a great picture of Carmack ID'd in the album. At first, I had no idea who he was or if possibly related so when at UM I ran a scrub on him and found him indeed facinating. I believe J.T.V. must have been a protege of his and at least a fond admirer. In 1850, I found him at 25, a teacher, living with Cornelius Carmack. 1870 & 80 he had a family living in Alcorn/Jacinto with wife Lizzie/Elizabeth and in '80 six kids, one a teacher the others students. I think I saw his son Edd later as a teacher also. E.W. is also listed as enrolled in 2nd MS Inf. Reg by one R. Griffith along with Alex McRae and Wm. H. Moody, related to J.T.V. That's about all I have on him, and probably all I need, but sounds to me like if the area has an Education Hall of Fame, he needs to be included!
