    3. Deavours, Joe T. The Vidette - August 9, 1894 Died We regret to announce the death of Mr. Joe T. Deavours, formerly of this place but later of Clarksdale. Mr. Deavours had been failing in health for some time and his friends advised him to go to Colorado. When he reached Memphis he was unable to go further and was carried to the city hospital, where he died. His remains were shipped to this place for burial which took place at the cemetery Wednesday evening. The ceremony was conducted by Rev. W. C. Harris. Col. E. S. Candler, who is an old friend of the family, made a few timely remarks on the life of the deceased. His funeral was attended by his three brothers, Messrs Stone, William and Rome Deavours. Card Of Thanks We cannot express the gratitude we feel towards the good people of Iuka, for their many acts of kindness to us during our bereavement. Three times since we left our old home in Iuka, we have returned there to bury our dead - the last time to lay away in everlasting rest, the baby of the family. On each occasion we have learned to love and appreciate more and more the good people of that town. Time can never efface the memory of their kindness to us, nor years weaken the gratitude and love of our hearts towards them. We regret that the shortness of our stay made it impossible for us to see and thank each one, and hence we take this method of expressing our thanks. May the loving Father of all protect and bless the people of Iuka. Respectfully, W. C. Deavours O. J. Deavours Stone Deavours --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
