I agree with you. there many of the wood beam turning plows made. There is no doubt many of the "turning plow" beams was hand make by the farmer, who used it. However, I am postive you will agree with me, most farmers had one plow, they used to "turn" the soil and "till" the soil. The coming of the railroad in 1856 allowed the Metal beamed turning plow to be shipped from points in the northeast to Tishomingo county other points west. The wood beam plow we have is about 2x3 inches at the front, so it could not be used as a turning plow. Thank you for sharing your opinions george >From: "John A.
