We used to pass through Gulfport, I do believe, before we got to Iuka, so this is probably the connection to Tishomingo. Tommy Dean from Iuka played pro ball. Was not kin to Dizzy. Could this be the Dean you are thinking of? Rebecca Bruton Moss
Possibly so......Would he have lived in the general vicinity of Shady Grove Baptist Church near Burnsville around 1969 to 1972? ----------------------------------------------------------- My Civil War and Genealogy Home Page: http://web.infoave.net/~wolfman Descendants of William B. and Eleanor Rice on CD-ROM http://web.infoave.net/~wolfman/wbrice.htm My Portrait Album at Camp Chase Gazette! http://www.campchase.com/WillSmith.htm ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rebecca Moss" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, May 08, 2004 10:49 PM Subject: Re: [MSTISHOM-L] Dizzy Dean > Tommy Dean from Iuka played pro ball. Hello: Sorry, but I just have to get into this discussion. Yes, Tommy Dean did play a little in the Major League and was from Iuka. As a baseball fan all my life, I have never heard that "Ole Diz" was in the Tishom. area. I could be wrong. After his BB career was over and he broadcast games on TV with Pee Wee Reese, he talked a lot about Yazoo, Mississippi. Never heard him speak of MSTISHOM area.
