Ellen, The southern district would refer to areas such as we now know as Belmont in Tishomingo county; however, in 1850 and 1860, old Tishomingo County encompassed all of Alcorn, Prentiss and Alcorn. Would have been in either southern Tishomingo or Prentiss counties. Also, Itawamba county borders the southern end of Tishomingo county.
