no one knows for sure, but I have seen data and heard stories that suggests the railroad reached Burnsvillle about 4-6 years before it came to Iuka. There is stories of the railroad having a turntable in Burnsville. Part of the data, I seen was an old map of rail lines in 1855. The map recorded the railroad stopped at Burnsville. One of the stories was, a Murphy family paid 100 dollars each for 3 railroad cars to travel to Texas in 18852-54. One passenger car, one flat car for the family wagon and other items and one lifestock car. I do know there was a mass migration westward from Tishomingo County, MS during the same time frame Wona Chennault <lyllye1@yahoo.com> wrote: I'd like to know if anyone knows anything about any migrations from Tishomingo to Arkansas around about 1850 to 1860? I know that sometimes these migrations occured because of territory opening up for homesteading, Was wondering if there is anyone out there that could give me a brief history on that and if there is anything recorded that would tell more about that sort of thing?
