John Thomas and Sarah Elizabeth Lou Cindy Parker The Parker name can be traced to William Parker, born in England, died at Portsmouth, New Hampshire, 1736, son of Philip Parker. The Coat of Arms is Argent, a chevron between three bucks heads cabossed gules. The Crest is a bucks head erased. Our proven Parker ancestry starts with John Thomas Parker and Sara Elizabeth Lou Cindy Morris/Morrison. Further research is needed to continue on past these lines. Though, I am considering the possibility of his parents being a certain Jessee and Elizabeth Parker. In the 1850 Tennessee Census there is a Jessee Parker, age 35, Elizabeth 23, Martha 6, James 4, Ann 3, John 2, (TT, Hr - 1625-365). In the 1860 Tennessee Census, I find another Jessee and Elizabeth Parker as follows: Jessee age 50, Elizabeth 40, Martha J. 16, James 15, Mary 14, John 12, Thomas 9, Tish 6, Elizabeth 3/12, (Hd-173-367). I have been told that he had a sister named Elizabeth, the ages fit perfectly according to his date of birth, and his funeral records indicate that his father was Jesse Parker. Sarah Parkers maiden name remains a puzzle. Being referred to as Morris, Morrison and Mayfield. The name Morris seems to have used more frequently. Her funeral record states that her father was a Morris. Unfortunately her mothers name was unrecorded. The fact that older family members have said that Sarah was raised by a Jones family also make it difficult to trace her ancestry. Her name was recorded as Sarah Elizabeth in the bible of her granddaughter, Bessie Pitts (daughter of Callie) and two of Callies descendants were named Elizabeth .The funeral record of her son, W.R. Riley Parker also shows her name as Sarah Morris. I have been told that Uncle Riley was an excellent source for family information in his time. Unfortunately, many of the facts which he recorded are no longer available. The obituary of another daughter, Emma shows her name as Martha Morris. As it was not uncommon to have many names in that time period, I am not ruling out that she may have been called Sarah Elizabeth Lou Cindy. The 1900 5th District McNairy County, Tennessee Census lists the family as follows: Jesse T.(could John Thomas name have been Jesse Thomas, was he named for his father?), Sarah . L would have been for Lou Cindy), Martha E. - (aka Emma), Callie E. (note the Es in these two names may have been for Elizabeth), Jesse T. (AKA Thomas Island), John F., David A. (my grandfather). Also living in the household at this time was James W. Parker, age 16, born January 1884, Tennessee; father and mother both born Tennessee and his wife, Annie L., age 18, born October 1881, Tennessee; father and mother both born in Tennessee. The couples double monument reads John Thomas and Sarah Lou Cindy. John Thomas Parker was born 1851,Tennessee, died May 01, 1921 in a house fire at his home in Alcorn County, Mississippi . His wife, Sarah Elizabeth Lou Cindy Morris/Morrison, was born April 11, 1855, Tennessee and died November 14, 1930, at the home of her son, W.R. Parker in Alcorn County, Mississippi.
