Tishomingo County, MS, originally included what we now know as Alcorn, Prentiss and Tishomingo counties - sometimes referred to as Old Tishomingo County - with the division being in 1870. We have the marriage records from the beginning of the original county back in 1836 thru 1920. My grandparents were Solon Ellis Thornton (b.1883 in Hickman Co., TN) & Callie N. Helton (b. 1889 in Tishomingo Co., MS). I am trying to find a record of their marriage. She was listed as living with her parents, Henry & Lucinda Helton on the 1910 Census in Liberty, Tishomingo Co., MS. Sol & Callie 's first child, John Elbert was born in 05 Jun 1913 in Tishomingo Co. I believe the couple married sometime between 1910 & 1913 in Tishomingo Co. I was unable to locate a record of their marriage on Ancestry.com.
