Hi, Brenda! Is Emily Brown the same as Belle Brown, daughter of Bette Brown? And, did you find out how she fits into my Bullard line? (Now I'm curious!) :) Thanks Lela ________________________________________________________________________ AOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at AOL.com.
It worked for me also. This is a two page catalog. Publications are listed on page one. CDs and ordering instructions are on page two. The catalog prints on regular size paper. To make viewing easier on your computer, change the view box percentage; I believe it is default to about 66% or you can go to the View Menu and choose "actual size". Better yet, just click the print button and you'll get both pages on hard copy. You can also find many of the items in the e-bay store. Just follow the "Gift Shop" link from the index page. Hope this helps. Thanks in advance for any assistance you are able to give. I'd love to find the marriage record for Alonzo Ward and Isabella Province/ Provines. Thank you.
Hi, Carol -- I don't know if this will help you but I have this listed in my database. Marriage in Itawamba Co, MS of William Blake SEARGEANT (b. 1831) and Arminta RANKIN. I have no further info on Arminta. William was son of James E. SEARGEANT and Mary Fanny EMBREY who were married in 1824 in Franklin Co, TN. I have not verified all the information on this line. Mary Fanny EMBREY was a sister of my 3rd great grandmother, Nancy EMBREY and they were daughters of Reuben & Nancy (UNKNOWN) EMBREY. The SEARGEANT children's birthdates range from 1825 to 1831 (I don't have even a birth year for all of the, though). Some of their birthdates seem awfully close together, too. In case this might help, the children of James SEARGEANT & Mary EMBREY were: John L. married (1845, Tippah Co, MS) Mary MILNER Elizabeth married (Franklin Co, TN) John SULLIVAN Martha Jane -- no further James R. married (1847, Marshall Co, MS) Elizabeth CULP Nancy married (Tippah Co, MS) Lewis RENFROE William Blake married (Itawamba Co, MS) Arminta RANKIN Lucindia Caroline married (Tippah Co, MS) William OWENS Nathaniel born 1834 -- no further Mary Ella "Polly" married (Tippah Co, MS) Wiley WILKERSON Mary & Wiley had James Marlin WILKERSON & Martha F. WILKERSON (no further on kids) Temperance died in Franklin Co, TN at the age of two months. Carol, I don't know if this spelling is the usual one for this family. I've had this info for years (before I was more careful about sources) and I don't remember where it came from -- maybe a census for some of it -- but probably from another EMBREY researcher. I have families in several n.e. MS counties: Tippah, Tishomingo, Prentiss, Union and a few individuals listed with references to Marshall, Itawamba, etc. I've spent most of my time on my direct lines and haven't gone farther with this line. The counties mentioned above in the list of children are where the marriages took place. Becky

Brenda, I looked at some censuses on Ancestry, and I'd guess that the David Cole who married Addie Rochelle Turnage was the one in this family in Union Co., Beat 3 in 1880: James M. Cole 39 Farmer, b Miss, parents b Ala Mary J. Cole 39 Keeping House, b Tenn, parents b SC Leanah Cole 12, b Miss David I. Cole 10 Works on farm, b Miss James B. Cole 8, b Miss Florance E. Cole 5, b Miss Sarah E. Cole 8M, b Miss This is certainly him, in the household next to Addie's mother Emma D Turnage: 1900 Census, Beat 2, Lee Co. Mississippi (Saltillo) David J Cole 29, Head, b Nov 1870 Miss, parents b MS Adie R Cole 21, Wife, b Jan 1879 Miss, parents b MS & AL Harrison T Cole 8.12, Son, b Sept 1899 Miss. James Cole 34, brother, b Nov? 1866 If these two Davids are the same, then there is a mistake on James' age in one or the other, probably the 1880 census. This page has not only my great-grandmother Emma D (Howell) Turnage, and my grandmother "Cliffie" but also my great-grantparents John M and Sarah (Williams) Lindsey and my grandfather Walter M Lindsey! COLEMAN HELTON FAMILY By Danny Orville Helton Following the formation of Tishomingo County in 1836 from the Chickasaw Nation, the 1837 Census of Tishomingo lists 95 names in the new county. Three Heltons were listed: 1. Joshua S. Helton with three males and one female, unnamed. 2. Peter Helton with one male and three females, unnamed. 3. Nancy Helton with two females, unnamed, living adjacent to Peter Helton. Peter lived just to the east of Sardis Church. Family Records indicate that John Helton and Nancy, a Cherokee Indian woman, were the parents of Peter. They moved from East Tennessee to Mississippi. Previous to that, John lived in South Carolina. The 1840 Census for the City of Iuka shows James Helton, head of a household and a farmer, with three in his household: One male over 15 and under 20; one male over 40 and under 50; one female over 40 and under 50. The book "History of Old Tishomin go County" states that James Helton was part of 2nd Mississippi Regiment, Company A during the civil war. It also states that J. S. Helton was a Constable of Iuka during the Civil War. The Helton family is also mentioned in the county records of 1839. One of the first marriages to take place in Tishomingo County was Peter Helton to Thursey McCoy, a Cherokee Indian, on December 27, 1841. Fleming McCoy was Thursey's father, and she inherited land from him in Tishomingo County. The 1850 Census of Tishomingo County lists two households of Heltons: 1. Peter, age 28, a farmer from Tennessee; Thursey, age 25 from TN; Jane, age 7, born in MS; James, 5, born in MS; William, 3, born in MS; and Nancy, 1, born in MS 2. James, age 26, a farmer from Tennessee; Mary, age 27, from AL; William, age 7, born in MS; James (Babe), 5, born in MS; Ann, age 3, born in MS; and Nancy, 1, born in MS. It seems reasonable that Peter and James were brothers considering the similarity in ages, the fact that both were farmers from Tennessee living in the same area, and that three of their children had the same names. Family records show that Peter was the father of two additional sons: Marion who moved to Florida and about whom there is no other information, and Henry (Bud), born November 7, 1852, and died February 18, 1923. Peter, Henry, and several other Heltons are buried in the Helton Cemetery about two miles east of Sardis Church. The cemetery is beside the road on land owned by the Parsons Family. Unfortunately, the cemetery is currently not marked, has few grave markers, and is unkept. Most of the more than 100 field stone grave markers have been stolen. Henry Helton married Loucinda Caroline Parsons who was born June 20, 1857, and died January 18, 1944. Their family is presented in the Henry family portrait. One can estimate the date of the picture knowing that Coleman, right side second row, was born 21 Sept., 1894. A measure of the respect that Henry had in the community can still be seen by the sea shells placed on his grave. This is an Indian custom reserved for people of significance. Coleman Helton married Maudie Louise Lambert, born 19 March 1905, died 31 March 1967. Coleman served in the army and ran a general store at Holcut for most of his life. I once saw a woman show respect to Maudie Helton by giving her several pounds of peanuts which she had dug and separated herself such that the entire bag had only hulls with four or five peanuts per hull. Coleman and Maudie's children were: Orville, born 25 Dec. 1922; Opal Lorene, born 26 Nov. 1924, died 19 Jun. 1977; Edna Earl, born 9 Jul. 1926; Ernestine, born 31 Oct. 1928; James Kermit, born 27 Jun. 1934; Aubrey Wayne, born 19 Aug. 1943. Orville Helton married Yvlette Green and had one son, Danny Orville Helton. Orville and Yvlette served as educators in schools in Holcut, New Site, Belmont, and Louisville, Ky. Danny O. Helton married Frances Cole and had one son, Raymond Helton.
