    3. Vicki: I strongly believe that there was a smallpox or yellow fever epidemic in NW AL, NE MS and W TN early 1850's as there were a lot of people not around after that time. During one of those epidemic,s there were no formalities and by and large people were buried in common graves or were burnt to get rei of the sickness. If you look real close at the 1860 census of Tish'o Co. MS and Franklin Co. AL you will see a lot of orphans listed . Hope this sheds some light> Clyde Gotcher - Hermann MO Raking the leaves under my family tree. > Does anyone know anything about the wife of Josiah Watts? 1. [MSTISHOM-L] WATTS/YOUNG
    2. Does anyone know anything about the wife of Josiah Watts? She died while the family was living in Tishomingo Co. between 1844 and 1849. We have found no trace of her death or burial. Josiah WATTS was born in VA in 1801. Their children were born in Hickman Co., TN and Tishomingo Co., MS. We don't know her name, but have been told her maiden name was YOUNG. A Deborah YOUNG (age 90 in 1950) was still living with Josiah and family in the 1850 Tishomingo census. Deborah was probably a grandmother. We can't find any record of her death or burial either. She was not listed in the 1860 census. Can anyone help? Thanks, Vicki Watts Vwatts75@aol.com

    2. Kittie: According to the excerpt from the book it is a complete, alphabetical listing of the "Roster of First Alabama Cavalry, US Soldiers". There is also a section that covers "Some Places of Deaths of 1st Alabama Cavalry Soldiers". When I check for a name for someone, I check in both places. Some of this same information is on the Internet in the Alabama section. Billie
