Long's) granddaughter. I would love to have something with his handwriting on it. If something like that exists in Tishomingo County, where could I obtain a copy? I live in Oregon, but will be visiting there in June. Thank you for your help. Dianne Denhem

    2. This is for Tanya. Most of my Knowles lived and died in Mississippi. Later generations went to Texas. If you are interested in this family, go to WorldConnect at RootsWeb and type in this key word in the database slot; camberly. The earliest Knowles on this line is Samuel (E)Lihu Knowles born in England. Diane

    3. Good Morning All, Since Tishomingo Co MS is the eastern neighbor of Colbert Co AL, some of you have family in Colbert Co AL, and I know that in the past it has been very hard to get information out of there. I hope to correct this, at least partially. I have taken over the Colbert Co AL web site, and I would like for those of you that are interested to take a look, let me know what you think, any suggestions, etc. I am still in process of changing over, so if you have any of the old pages bookmarked, you will probably have to do it again. http://www.rootsweb.com/~alcolber/ Some of you will know me as the Lauderdale Co AL CC - so you will have some idea of what to expect on the Colbert site - eventually. Looking forward to hearing from y'all. Pat

    3. Wanda, there was an article in the Family Trees section of the Tupelo Daily Journal on 02/08's Sunday edition advertising a new book "The Confederate Dead in Brooklyn" by John Walker. I ordered the book and the only person from Iuka is a Augustus L. Riggs - and one from Corinth - T.C. Robertson. There are short bios for each one - here is the opening for Augustus L. Riggs: "One record states that he was 32 while a second states that he was 34 when he was mustered into service on march 6, 1861, at Iuka, Mississippi as a member of the Mississippi Rifles Company. Born in Monroe County, Alabama . . ." "Thomas C. Robertson, a private in Company I, Eighteenth Mississippi Infantry regiment, was born in South Carolina - a resident of Brownsville, Mississippi, he enrolled at Corinth, Mississippi, on May 23, 1861. He was between 27 and 30 at this time." Now, I know all too well how our minds work and I know that plenty of y'all are thinking, well, I'll ask her if a (surname) is mentioned. Believe me, the two above are the only two that are mentioned from our area.
