Could somebody do a lookup.... Sarah Ann Whitehurst married William Van Hoose in Tishomingo or Alcorn Co l860-l885. I am interested in who signed the bond and if James T Whitehurst was the preacher who married them as well as the exact date. William Vanhose to Adeline D. Wright Feb. 3, 1869 Miss M.E. Vanhoose to E.H. Whitehurst Oct. 3, 1868 William Vanoose (incorrectly indexed) to Sarah Whitehurst Feb. 8, 1874 (All I have is an index published by Hunting for Bears. No other info in it.) All the Tishomingo Co. Ms.Whitehurts were/are related. They are descendants of Arthur Whitehurst Sr of Pitt County, North Carolina and came out of that area first to Haywood Co Tn.then to Tishomingo Co Ms. dale johnson
Are the marriage records for Tishomingo available for the period 1920-1940? If so, I need a lookup for a Mr. "Alf?" or Alfred? Johnson to Maggie SMITH, formerly Streetman, between 1930 and 1934. Then for Levi Quinton MOCK between 1934 and 1942 to Maggie Johnson. Maggie Mae Streetman born 1901 was married three times. First husband was "Willie" Smith. I've never found a marriage record for them. Hi, Dale. I know this doesn't answer your question, but are your Whitehursts by any chance related to John Thomas and Nancy Rachel (Palmer) Whitehurst? John was born in MS 1857 and Nancy in TN 1856. I believe they were both living in Tishomingo around the time peroid between 1860-1885. They were living in Cleburne Co. AR after 1900. Jason, Since I have not researched either family before, let's first put this request out on our Tishomingo County email listing. I know that Sybil Holley has quite a bit of Holley data. Just FYI, I recently discovered that if I hit the "refresh" button when I get the 404 error, SOMETIMES the page will show up. It doesn't always work, but it does often enough to make it worth a try.... Campbell If you are interested in attending this reunion and you need a "look-up" in the book, "The Pedens of America", to assure your line is of this South Carolina Peden/Paden family, please send me information of your kinship to at least 1900 (further back if you have it). Many of the lines stop at about 1900 in the book. If you missed the reunion information posted on this mailing list, write and I'll email it to you. I will be giving a talk at the reunion this year on the Pedens that left SC and went West to MS, TN, ALA, GA, etc. If you have copies of any early pictures, letters, or documents that you would share to help with this exhibit, I would be most happy to receive them!!! We will also be gathering materials for permanent exhibits for each House. Please email or if unable to scan, write for my snail address. Also updated and expanded information for any of these families in needed for a future "Pedens of America" Book Update. When published (no date set), will be by the SC Peden Clan that published and has copyright of the "Pedens of America". Information in a GedCom format is favored, but any and all formats are welcome.
