I also know nothing of setting up a web site for photos. Having now collected a few hundred of them for my family albums, however, I have become fairly adept at 'fixing' photos. If I can be of assistance in this regard, please let me know. Despite some fairly decent computerized technology which I use, I can't always make magic (some of them are beyond help). In some cases, though, I can make them better. wanda
George, When you set up a web site for pictures you can reduce the color resolution from 16 million to 256 and this will reduce the amt. of memory necessary. This does not effect the quality as long as a person is not trying to enlarge it. Janet, I went to the first site and typed in "Tishomingo" and found a pix that Chuck Floyd had submitted. This is great but I still think a specific one for our county would be great, huh? This photo exchange is very interesting!! I, too, would like to participate. And, yes, I have seen the site where folks put their names and email addresses out and offer to do photos of area cemeteries; however, I like George's idea of one specifically for Tishomingo county, both old and new. And, the photo exchange itself is very interesting as well; however, I know almost nothing of setting up a web site. Cindy and Ken, what do ya'll think? Hi, All!! I think figuring out a way to share photos would be great for everyone! Living in Illinois, I would also welcome the opportunity to get cemetery photos. Although, I must admit it won't be as exciting as driving around and finally finding the grave marker for my mother-in-law's grandfather who she had no information at all for. This is a great idea! thank you for your kind comments. I plan to let everyone who wants to make comments untill the Grand Opening in Sept. That is about 60 days from now and gives me time to finish the plans for our "grand opening". What do you think about paying a fee for photos of certain tombstones as we start building our photo base. It has been suggested that it will take 2 people, six months to photo all tombstones in the county. So it may be best to take "orders" for certain tombstones at first. However, it the cemetery is small, all tombstones could be photographed then. Any money collected would be used to maintian the website. I would like to participate with old photos and photos of cemetery headstones. An index posted on a web site sounds good, with a fee for the photos ordered. Speaking of cemeteries....my ggfather, MDL Adams is buried in the Pace cemetery in Tishomingo County. I understand that his wife is also buried there, but no headstone.. Also, the cemetery has been disturbed so that some stones are broken up. My question...is there anyone else with family there interested in placing a marker identifying those buried there who do not have a marker???? Aaron; Lets do a survey first. Everyone needs to give their opinion on how they want to see the photo exchange work. The best way is to set up a website limited to old photos of persons, who lived in Tishomingo County in the past. This website must include "old" and "new" Tishomingo County. Old Tishomingo County includes the land given to Alcorn and Prentiss counties on April 15, 1870. There are two ways to set up the website, one is posting the pictue itself, but that will use a lot of space very fast. The other way is post; a index of pictures by surname, given name and other data to Id the persons family. This way, the actual picture will be kept on a CD. While on the subject of "old photos" any interest in photos of headstones in Tishomingo county Cemeteries? All comments, suggestions pro or con is welcome.
