Thanks for your question because I need all the help I can get. Yes I agree they are getting a new photo album for the website. I would like to see "Headstone photos" as a new 'Drop down" with its own rules. That option will be be on the agenda of the next board meeting. However, if the photo web site project grows as expected, it will use the same and/or more memory space than the website has now. It does not take many photos to eat up the free memory space in most free websites. I have not talked to Ken, but I am sure the website needs its remaining memory space as "room to grow". I will gladly share the plans. Since I have never set up a website like a headstone photo website, I need all the help I can get from anyone interested in the project. So the first 60 days will be a survey period, anyone can post their ideas, thoughts and suggestion about what they would like to see on the web site. Augest 15 is my target date to post a set of rules to govern the websites operation. these rules will come from the input I get from interested individuals like you. From Aug 15 to Sept 15, I need everyones suggestions, ideas and thoughts on the rules. I plan to post the final rules by Oct 15. I plan to have the website operating by Dec 1 of this year. There is one item that I will share with everyone now is: A volunteer Moderator to operate the website on a daily basis will to have to come from those interested in the project. Since I am the [volunteer] Museum director, chief tour guide, [part time] assist research Director and anything else that needs to be done for the Tishomingo County Archives & History Museum in the old court house in Iuka, MS. Also, we have less than 60 days to finish the plans for our Grand Opening in Sept. There is not enought hours in a day to do alll the above and still do all those things required to be a home owner, like mow the lawn and etc. George >From: "V S" <[email protected]> >Reply-To: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: Re: [MSTISHOM-L] PHOTOS >Date: Mon, 12 Jul 2004 23:43:00 -0500 > >Dear Mr. Pearson: > >I would definitely be interested because my ancestors are from Tishomingo >and Alcorn Counties (Kendrick/Barnett) and believe that most of them are >buried there. thanks for your support. Someone told me one time, someone has to take the first step to do anything. If i fail this time, I may learn something that I can make it work the next time. Yes, I agree the best times in genealogical research is "stumbling" on the information you need and the worst times is when you find something you discarded is just the data you need. Wanda: Thanks for the offer, I will print your email and keep it. I am postive we are going to learn together because I never set up a website for photos either. Yes, we have discussed the missing markers/headstones and more. That is one of the projects we would like to do. But, we have to depend on volunteers to do about 95% of the work in the Archives and other projects. So when the number of volunteers is low, many projects stay in the planning stage for long periods of time. It is hard to keep up with all the programs and projects already started, during the summer months because the number of volunteers falls sharply. Right now, there is one paid employee and one volunteer to be a tour guide in the museum, assist in genealogical research, keep the office open, and much, much more. >From: "Jean Crane" <[email protected]> >Reply-To: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: Re: [MSTISHOM-L] PHOTOS >Date: Mon, 12 Jul 2004 13:18:35 -0500 > >I would like to participate with old photos and photos of cemetery >headstones. Dear Mr. Pearson: I would definitely be interested because my ancestors are from Tishomingo and Alcorn Counties (Kendrick/Barnett) and believe that most of them are buried there. Since I live in the Midwest and not Mississippi I am not sure of how to participate but would definitely be interested. Thanks! ----- Original Message ----- From: CHRISTINA HARLE<mailto:[email protected]> To: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Sent: Monday, July 12, 2004 8:02 AM Subject: Re: [MSTISHOM-L] PHOTOS Mr. Pearson, Since I live so far away I would be very interested in tombstone pictures. I also have seen web sites using the list of names to obtain the pictures.
