I am also interested in the Joslin, Blakeney, and Brown families as they relate to the John Wilson family. The were in Tishomingo Co from about 1840 to 1865. After that they went north to KY or west to Arkansas and MO. Information on any of these families would be helpful. no one knows for sure, but I have seen data and heard stories that suggests the railroad reached Burnsvillle about 4-6 years before it came to Iuka. There is stories of the railroad having a turntable in Burnsville. Part of the data, I seen was an old map of rail lines in 1855. The map recorded the railroad stopped at Burnsville. One of the stories was, a Murphy family paid 100 dollars each for 3 railroad cars to travel to Texas in 18852-54. One passenger car, one flat car for the family wagon and other items and one lifestock car. Karen I will take what ever you can give me on this family and in-laws. As it stands right now I do not even know some of the surnames that might have traveled with this family to Arkansas. And I know that families often traveled together. Something brought James to Arkansas and possibly he was following one of his older children here. I thought that the family came to Arkansas through Pope county because my gr grandfather Z.T. Pettit (that married Mary Ann Ritter) and his first wife Sarah were on the census there in 1880 and the marriage record for Z.T. and Mary Ann was issued out of Pope County. But James is on the Van Buren County census in 1860 & 1870. Shortly after ZT & Mary were married there was a land patent issued to a John Ritter (possibly Mary Ann's older brother and one of James' older children) for land in Pope County but I do not find the Ritter's on any of the census for Pope County. I'd like to know if John were married and possibly who he might have married. I have sent for forms to try to order some of the land patents from the Bureau of Land Managment but haven't recieved them yet. By 1900 the my gr grandfather was on a census in Van Buren with Mary Ann. The 1890 census I believe is the one that is lost because of fire & flood damage & that is really hurting the research on this family. I am working on the John DANIEL family of Old Tishomingo County. Relocated there from Wayne County TN before 1850. Spouse Nancy HOLMES issue Calvin M, Nancy Lillian, Elizabeth Catherine, William Green, James Madison, Mary Elizabeth, Lucinda, John Buckley, Tennessee and Sarah were all counted on 1850 and 1860 census reports. John and his son Calvin are buried in the Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery on hiway 30. James Madison owned this property or the farm just across the hiway to the south prior to the war. William Green owned a farm in Blackland to the north. I have information on the family except for Tennessee (lost after 1860 census) Sarah ( lost after the 1860 census) and Nancy HOLMES DANIEL ( lost after the 1860 census) Nancy may have married an ESTES and relocated to IL, however no proof. This family and their spouses and children all attended Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church iaw church and School records. After the war most of the family relocated to Cooke County TX area where they are counted in 1870 along with other farmers from the Geeville MS area. All went in a wagon train pulled by oxen. If anyone has any information for this family please contact jdan@shreve.net. I really would like to know who Tennessee, Sarah and the Widow Nancy married or where they are buried. Thanks again. Family married BREWER, SIMMONS, RAGAN, BALL, McSHANN, WATTS, and THORNE.

Elizabeth Rook Sanders family as Quakers in NC: Quakers The Quakers, who in 1752, found themselves within the limits of the newly created Orange County, began coming into that area in 1748 on a wave of migrations which penetrated the whole of the Carolina Piedmont, a product of a great chain of migrations of their own which broke out from Pennsylvania two decades earlier. In the Quaker settlements in the interior of the Carolinas, the Cane Creek Monthly Meeting occupied the pivotal position. Every Meeting in Western North Carolina traces its constitutional ancestry back to Cane Creek. The Society of Friends has always maintained a strong testimony against resort to war. The Cane Creek Meeting was put to a severe test during the period of the Regulator movement and the succeeding period of the Revolution. The geographic limits of the Orange County Quaker Meetings were torn by the activities in each of these great movements. By the end of the Revolution, Cane Creek Meeting had disowned between 40 and 50 of the men of its membership for joining the Regulators or for participation in the Revolution. The establishment of Guilford, Chatham and Alamance Counties removed most of the Quakers from Orange County, leaving only the Eno Meeting, which came to an end approximately 100 years after the founding of Orange County. A large cemetery surrounded by a rock wall is all that now marks the spot of the Meeting. The location is just off the Hillsboro-Schley road and about one-quarter of a mile east of Mars Hill Baptist Church. During the reconstruction period the Friends from Philadelphia operated a school for ex-slaves in Chapel Hill on West Franklin Street for many years, eventually transferring the property to the local school board. They, also, transferred a lot in Hillsboro to Dickerson's African Methodist Episcopal Church ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

Our proven Parker ancestry starts with John Thomas Parker and Sara Elizabeth Lou Cindy Morris/Morrison. Further research is needed to continue on past these lines. Though, I am considering the possibility of his parents being a certain Jessee and Elizabeth Parker. In the 1850 Tennessee Census there is a Jessee Parker, age 35, Elizabeth 23, Martha 6, James 4, Ann 3, John 2, (TT, Hr - 1625-365). In the 1860 Tennessee Census, I find another Jessee and Elizabeth Parker as follows: Jessee age 50, Elizabeth 40, Martha J. 16, James 15, Mary 14, John 12, Thomas 9, Tish 6, Elizabeth 3/12, (Hd-173-367). I have been told that he had a sister named Elizabeth, the ages fit perfectly according to his date of birth, and his funeral records indicate that his father was Jesse Parker. Sarah Parkers maiden name remains a puzzle. Being referred to as Morris, Morrison and Mayfield. The name Morris seems to have used more frequently. Her funeral record states that her father was a Morris. Unfortunately her mothers name was unrecorded. The fact that older family members have said that Sarah was raised by a Jones family also make it difficult to trace her ancestry. Her name was recorded as Sarah Elizabeth in the bible of her granddaughter, Bessie Pitts (daughter of Callie) and two of Callies descendants were named Elizabeth .The funeral record of her son, W.R. Riley Parker also shows her name as Sarah Morris. I have been told that Uncle Riley was an excellent source for family information in his time. Unfortunately, many of the facts which he recorded are no longer available. The obituary of another daughter, Emma shows her name as Martha Morris. As it was not uncommon to have many names in that time period, I am not ruling out that she may have been called Sarah Elizabeth Lou Cindy. The 1900 5th District McNairy County, Tennessee Census lists the family as follows: Jesse T.(could John Thomas name have been Jesse Thomas, was he named for his father?), Sarah . L would have been for Lou Cindy), Martha E. - (aka Emma), Callie E. (note the Es in these two names may have been for Elizabeth), Jesse T. (AKA Thomas Island), John F., David A. (my grandfather). Also living in the household at this time was James W. Parker, age 16, born January 1884, Tennessee; father and mother both born Tennessee and his wife, Annie L., age 18, born October 1881, Tennessee; father and mother both born in Tennessee. The couples double monument reads John Thomas and Sarah Lou Cindy. John Thomas Parker was born 1851,Tennessee, died May 01, 1921 in a house fire at his home in Alcorn County, Mississippi . His wife, Sarah Elizabeth Lou Cindy Morris/Morrison, was born April 11, 1855, Tennessee and died November 14, 1930, at the home of her son, W.R. Parker in Alcorn County, Mississippi. Hello All, SMITH is of course a name I have been hunting for a while but making headway. I am having trouble getting anywhere on SARAH REBECCA HARRIS. Sarah Rebecca Harris b. 07 May 1838 in Alabama d. 28 Jan 1908 in Pope County, Arkansas married (in Corinth, Alcorn County, Mississippi) Lewis Marshall Smith b. 18 Oct 1834 in Corinth, MS d. 26 Jan 1904, Pope County, AR Mississippi Marriages, 1776-1935 Record Name: Sarah R. Harris Spouse: Lewis Smith Marriage Date: 06 Jun 1858 County: Alcorn Lewis Marshall smith shows in Tishomingo census for 1840 and 1850. By 1860 ha and Sarah married and moved to Yell County, AR. I am finding nothing that might lead me to Sarah Harris's parents. I have looked in Tishomingo and surrounding counties but nothing reliable has presented itself. There are some HARRIS possibilities I have found on the Tishomingo web site. Anyone have HARRIS in Tishomingo that might have a Sarah? Rumor has it her grandmother was Indian. No idea if on the maternal or paternal side. The Smith children proved it and received land in Oklahoma. There is question of whether Cherokee or Choctaw. I have not located the papers yet. Ideas anyone? Nina
