Tippah County was broken up following the Civil War. The three Peeler families listed below lived next to each, in what is now an area of present southeast Benton County. : J. D. Peeler, 2 males, 2 females Jacob W. Peeler, 2 males, 2 females Jacob Peeler, 2 males, 3 females In northern present Benton county to Ashland, including Canaan and New Hope in Benton County, the following are listed, and lived next door to each other: James T. Peeler, 1 male, 3 females George A. Peeler, 3 males, 1 female Hope this helps.
