My gg grandfather was a Jasper Newton WHITEHEAD. He was born in 1838 in AL, I think probably in Lauderdale County. He moved to Tippah Co, MS and married there on 4 Dec 1859 to Rebecca Jane VERNOR. They had 14 children. Rebecca died 4 Dec 1903 in Memphis at the home of one of their daughters, Sarah Whitehead LACKEY. Jasper surived her. My Jasper was sheriff of Tippah County at one time. He served in the Civil War, Co. B, O'Connor Rifles. He was a Holiness minister. I don't have Jasper's death date or place. He may have gone to live with one of their children but that's just my speculation. Rebecca died on their 44th wedding anniversary. Here are his children's names, in case you might find a clue in them: Marietta E. "Mollie"; Tommie "Fannie" (female); Ella Nancy; James; Cybillie; Anna Eliza "Annie" (my gg grandmother); Lula Martha "Mattie"'; Jasper Newton; Sarah "Sallie"; William G.; William D. (both Williams were alive at the same time); Nathan; Likergus; Noah Vernor (named for Rebecca's father). It seems these two Jasper Newton WHITEHEADs would be related somehow. What do you think? Becky
