Francis Spencer Bobo, b.1730, m. Elizabeth Mason, 1730-35 SC; Note; one report has Spencer Bobo married to Judith Foster, b. abt. 1730, the daughter of John and Isabell Golding Foster. Maybe he was married more than once? It appears that one of Francis Spencer Bobo’s grandsons was also named Spencer. Here is a record found in the 1830 Census of Gwinnette Co., GA. He would have been age 30 to 40, thus born between 1790 and 1800. Note this is just outside of Atlanta. July 30, 1833, SC, d. June 2, 1905, MS. He married, Ann Elizabeth Hitch, b. Feb. 14, 1836, in Laurens County, SC, she died in Chalybeate, MS on Dec. 22, 1895; The sister of Ann Elizabeth Hitch was, Arabella Hitch, (a spinster), b. March 20, 1823, d. April 14, 1902, she helped raise the children of Dempsey T. Bobo, the father of Ann Elizabeth and Arabella was William Winders Hitch. Note, the date of birth and death of Arabella C. Hitch, differs according to source, see below. Hitch, Arabella C., 12/25/1823, 4/19/1897, Union, b. Laurens Co. S. C. Demsey T’s second wife was, Elva Hollis Demsey T’s third wife was, Maggie McElhannon Demsey Beauregard Bobo, married Ida Cannady. She was an early teacher at Maple Springs Academy. They had three sons Leslie, Lacy and Lawrence and four daughters; Zilpha, Le Earl, Mary Gambrell and Wilma. Garrett, b. 1847, in MS, on May 22, 1879, and had eight children including, my grand mother, Ida Jewel GARRETT Rowland, b. 1886, who married Huey Isaac Rowland, my great aunt Elizabeth, b. Nov. 9, 1896, d. Feb. 16, 1995, who never married, and my great aunt, Ruby Garrett, b. Feb. 26, 1894, d. Aug. 7, 1988, who also never married. Note, in the real world she was Alpha Talulah Bobo. BOBO, ALBERT (010329) died at Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Saturday, age 53/ son of D.T. Bobo of Chalybeate/bro. to D.B. Bobo, Mrs. John A. Garrett/uncle of Mrs. Will Gossett and Miss Elizabeth Garrett/leaves brothers at Pine Bluff. BOBO, CHARLEY (083017)died recently at Pine Bluff, Ark./brother of D.B. Bobo of Chalybeate. BOBO, D.B. (101735)died Saturday,age 74/son of D.T. Bobo/wife died six years ago/children: Mrs. W.B. Gossett, Mrs. Edwin Drake (Eldorado Ark), Mrs. Jimmy Quinn (Senatobia), Mrs. Horace Sledge (Sunflower), Lace (Pine Bluff), Lawrence (Memphis)/brothers to Lud Bobo of Pine Bluff and Lamar Bobo of Pine Bluff. (110415)died at Pine Bluff, Ark., Oct. 19/born Tippah Co., Oct. 2, 1864/ married Lenora King Feb. 7, 1896/noved to Arkansas in April, 1906/son:William Bobo / bro. of Mrs. Lula Garrett of Chalybeate, D.B. Bobo of Chalybeate, W.C. (G.?) Bobo of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, and Charles, Lud, Albert, _________ all of Pine Bluff. Note this is William A. Bobo. JOHN A. GARRETT John A. Garrett was originally married to Cornelia Gibbs in 1866. She was the daughter of Spencer Gibbs, a merchant in Falkner. As a young man he was reported to have worked for Spencer Gibbs, and may have lived among the family. RLH-2001 GIBBS, Spencer, 28 June 1819 -17 July 1882, buried Union-Chalybeate Cemetery. Served in Co. G 23rd Miss. Inf. John A. Garrett worked for Mr. Gibbs, as a young man, in the merchantile store and may have come to Mississippi with the Gibbs family. John and Cornelia Gibbs Garrett had three children. Children of John A. Garrett and Cornelia Gibbs were; 1. Betty Francis Garrett, born 1868, married Clinton D. Powell, she was always referred to as Aunt Betty. Our relationship to the Powell family. Powell’s buried in Tippah County that served for the Confederacy. POWELL, James Willard, buried in Union Cemetery. Served as a private in Co. B 15th S. C. Inf. POWELL, Sanford Turner, buried in Chalybeate Presbyterian Cemetery. Served as a private in Co. A 4th S. C. Inf. POWELL, 1st Lt. Thomas Jefferson, buried in Union Cemetery. Served in Co. B 15th S. C. Inf. Children of John A. and Cornelia Garrett, continued; 2. Sammie A. Garrett, born 1870, married Rachel Horton, had one son Guy H. Garrett; He was referred to as Uncle Sammie. 3. Addie L. Garrett, born 1872, died as an infant. Her mother, Cornelia died Sept. 22, 1872.
