According to elderly relatives, my husband's ggrandfather's name was John and his father's name was Isaiah. According to these same relatives, Isaiah was born in Georgia about 1806. I find an Isaiah in Tippah County with a son, John in the correct age range. These relatives say that John died during the Civil war at the Siege of Vicksburg. No one is sure what happened to his wife, but the children (Rebeccah, John and Calvin) were raised in Scott and Smith County Mississippi by the Harvey and Powell families. After the 1860 census they seem to virtually disappear. I would appreciate any clue or tidbit of information that would give me a new direction to search for this elusive family. Thanks in advance.
