Jule Smith was my mother's father, my grandfather. How are you related? I live in SC and have contracted with a professional geneologist to assist with my search. If you'd like, I will share my findings w/you. My husband is an historian at the University here and we have significant access to records/documents that are proving to be quite helpful and revealing. 'Tho not 100% verified at this point, all indicators are that our Smiths were Schmidt upon arrival in SC. Once I have more information to fill in the gaps, I'll advise.
