As shown on the 1850 Tippah Co census: Peter, 47, farmer, VA Emeline, 37, TN Benjamin N., 19, ALA Rachel A., 16, ALA Ursula A., 11, MS Littleberry, 9, MS Alvia, 7, f, MS Henry C., 5, MS Strother, 3, MS Nancy, 2, MS William, 10, MS Medlock, Littleberry, 64, farmer, VA I believe the William, 10, is probably 10 months. Littleberry Medlock is the father of Emeline Smith. Her mother was Nancy Jane Strother Medlock. A sister, Margaret, married Samuel Smith and went to Texas, probably in the early 1840's. Several of Emeline's brothers (Clairborn Pickens Matlock, Lewis James Matlock, and Manuel Matlock) also went to Texas and settled in Rusk Co. Any info on the above named Smiths of Tippah Co and any of Emeline Medlock/Matlock Smith's siblings who stayed in Tippah Co greatly appreciated.
