Here is the information I have. William Maxwell was born 3 Aug 1786 in NC He died 9 Aug 1842 in Tippah MS. Nancey was born 15 Feb 1795 in KY. I have a marriage date of 6 Aug 1812 in TN Following William's death, Nancey and several of the children moved to Hardeman County, TN. near her Daughter Nancey Jane Maxwell who married my ggg Grandfather Daniel Wilson Lowrance. I have this Nancey listed as born 14 Feb 1825, married 29 Sept 1845 and death 1916. She is buried in the Corinth Cemetery, Grant County, Arkansas. The best I have figured so far is that they moved to Arkansas before 1870 they were listed on the 1880 census for Saline County Arkansas and Daniel died prior to 1877 and my gg grandfather John married in Saline County in 1874. They were still in TN in 1848 because my gg grandfather John Wilson Lowrance was born there. Her Mother Nancey Reed Maxwell is listed with the children on 1850 Hardeman County, TN census as Mancey Maxwell it was noted on this census that she could read and write. The children listed as living with her at that time were Celia 13, William 13 and Rebecca 18. all of these children are listed as having been born in TN. Nearby lived a John and Sarah Maxwell. John was listed as having also been born in TN. I have only just begun searching out this family. There seem to be many brick walls. I am checking Indian records on this family as I have located similar names on the Guion-Miller Rolls.(several Nancy's and Nannie Reed's born both in TN and NC and also Maxwell's) I also found on the Son of William listed in the census in the area of Benton County MS (near Tippah) as have Reed children living in the home. I'd appreciate it if you would continue posting updates as you find them and I will to. Perhaps we will be able to track down other members of the families.
