    3. I have hit the proverbial brick wall. I am trying to find relations of my g-grandfather Allen Reynolds who shows up in the 1860 census of Tippah co,Ms at being born in NC in 1832. Possibly siblings of his or his wife Martha Whittington Reynolds. Allen Reynolds was born in 1832. He was a Confederate soldier and a member of Co. H.,34th infantry, Mississippi Volunteers. He died as a soldier in1863 and was buried in Myrtle hill cemetery Rome, Georgia. Allen Reynolds married Martha Whittington from Jefferson County, Alabama. Martha was born March 5, 1837 the daughter of Wilburn Whittington and Mary Goolsby. Allen and Martha had two sons Jacob Allen born April 1862 and John Francis born December 2, 1859. The sons were born in Tippah County, Mississippi. Martha and the two sons moved to Van Zandt County ,Texas in 1873. Martha later married Mr. Harrington . There was also a daughter of Martha's, Mary Sanders . Martha Whittington Reynolds Harrington died October 24, 1922 and is buried in Liberty Cemetery on FM 2339 about 5 miles west of Callender Lake in Van Zandt County. Thanks, Roy Reynolds

    3. In answer to 4gkids@elltel.nt who is searching for McBrides, I notice one married William Gibson Blair. Although this Blair is not in my line, I noticed some info on him and Sarah Cornelia on Rootsweb's message board's Blair -L Archives. The following info was posted by nelles@mtc.net : Some Blairs settled in Mosinee, Marathon Co. Wisconsin in about 1851. William G. Blair ran a hotel, the Falls City house, until he left for the Civil War in 1861. He was captured and held prisoner during Civil War, and exchanged at Nashville, TN. Too weak to travel home he died in 1864. He is buried in Chattanooga, TN. He was born in Glascow, Scotland, 1808. He married Sara Cornelia, and they came to Mosinee with three children, Lusy F Blair, b 1845 in IL. Charles B. Blair, b 1851, drowned playing in the river July 23, 1860, and William G Blair, b. 1849, who drowned with his brother. Three children died before they reached Mosinee. They had Helena Margaret Blair May 20, 1853, born in Mosinee. She married Ovando Hosford, son of William Hosford, and moved to Lawrence Kansas around 1879. She died in Lawrence Kansas. One of her six children was Clitus Blair Hosford (there is a good article on him on the internet). Clitus S. Blair b. March 28, 1856, in Mosinee. Married a Ella M b. 1853 in PA. Clitus S. was a druggist and for a while, the postmaster of Mosinee.

    3. Hello, Wyn -- Here is the information I have on Elias HOVIS. I'm wondering if there are two different Eliases or if this Elias had two wives and two sets of children. I don't have listed any of the children you mentioned, but I do have nine listed for Elias and Eliza Ann, as follows: Elias HOVIS, died February 1873. They had six children: Walter J., Rufus, Ollie S., Nat Carter, Mary, Joseph H. I have some further info on this family. This is information I've gathered but I have not verified all of it If anyone notices anything they know to be in error, please let me know. My interest in the HOVIS family is that a daughter of Lawson Berry HOVIS & Laura PHYFER married one of my TIGERT cousins and a daughter of my gg grandfather David Porter TIGRET married a son of Lawson & Laura. (There are various spellings of the TIGERT name through the generations & sometimes in the same generation.) Hope this helps someone. Becky Smith

    3. Thanks for your response! It appears to me that you have an Elias Langham that I do not have any data on. Gosh! The Elias Langhams I have researched are: Elias G Langham b.1795 spouse surname 'Padget' Elias L Langham b.1829 Fayette, TN spouse 1: Amanda Wood 2. Mary Felder, 3.Amanda Southwell Elias Nyde Langham b. 1847 spouse Ann Wright Elias Thomas Langham b.1777 VA spouse unknown to me (But he is father of George Simeon Langham who married Clarissa Nichols) Elias Thomas Langham b.1749 Essex Co., VA spouse Mary McDonald Now, does your line fit into these anywhere? Is your Elias also named Elias "L" ? It looks like my offer to help you has fallen on it's face! Because you mentioned George Simeon, and the subject was Elias L Langham, I was sure were were talking about the same people & I could compare data with you. Hopefully, we can yet.
