    1. Re: [MSTIPPAH-L] Whorley-Whirley-Crum
    2. Would the Crum which is in your family be associated with the Studdard family? Lillian Studdard, daughter of William Monroe Studdard, married Rufus Stephenson Crum. They lived in Alcorn Co. Rufus and Lillian had a son, Robert Lee Crum. Rufus is buried at Union Cemetery, Cornith. I am from the Studdard Line. Thank you June Kelley Fowler

    2. Linda Perry
    3. visited my 3rd cousin last week and she gave a good bit of information on the Hallmark,Parham and Cruse side of my family. I recorded her on tape and she told me some good stories. I even got some pictures to copy from her. She is in her 80's and still smart as she can be. Her husband was Bonnie Hallmark and she was a Cruse. 1. YOUNG and Research Recommendation
    2. Plops Mom
    3. I live in Michigan, but am researching my YOUNG line in Tippah. I am at the point where I need local help to obtain records. Is there a society, person, or library who can do this? In other locales I have researched, I was always able to find someone. I am willing to pay reasonable costs and/or small fee. I am mostly interested in copies of the originial census, and death records. As anyone could imagine, more would be awesome. Feel free to email directly. Also, the YOUNG I am researching (James M. Young 1866-1957) reports to have owned land which he lost during the depression. Wondering if land records exist during that era? Respectfully, Lori Samples

They also had a son named Beverly who died and his children were raised by Claiborn. I think it was William Claiborn, Jr. I'd have to go back and check. Son German was a renound educator in Guilford County, Chatham Co, and Wake County. William Sr., was evidenly a Justice of the Peace, or court official since his name is on a lot of deeds and things as witness.

(I have 9 children listed for them.) I am so glad that you replied to my message about Thomas and shared the info your friend Tina has. Otherwise, I probably would never have known about James and his daughter Lucy Faye, etc. Thank you. I do not know who that Griffin Stacks of Scott County is that you mentioned either. If you find out I would sure like to know that also. I will be happy to share other info of my Thomas Stacks line if you need it. Just let me know. Email me. Thanks, Pat

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/iJB.2ACE/48.234 Message Board Post: To Pat Ramsey, I beleive you have in common the ancestors of Thomas Stacks and Elizabeth Neighbors, with a close friend of mine, who I am just starting to help research the lineage of her paternal grandmother -- Lucy Faye STACKS b 1904 in Blansett, Scott Co, Arkansas. The friend's name is Christianne RAINWATER. For a long while, the only info Christianne (Tina) had was that Lucy Faye Stacks was her grandmother, who wed c 1921 to Noah Earl Rainwater, and lived in OK. Some time ago, Tina sent for Lucy's OK death certificate, and spoke with a Great Aunt, from that we found that Lucy was born in Arkansas, and that her father was James J. Stacks, who wed Mattie L. Holiday and lived in Arkansas. Tina had been told that James J. Stacks had died while Lucy and her two sisters, were teenagers, and that was all we knew. Last year, I came across two land purchases on the Bureau of Land Management website by James Stacks in Scott Co. Arkansas, c 1912, 1916. Just two months ago, when ancestry added a database of the index to Arkansas deaths, I found a 1919 death date for him. Tina then sent for his death certificate. His birth was in 1882, in Mississippi according to the death certificate and he died in 1919, buried in Scott Co. Arkansas. The death certificate listed his parents as Samuel F. STACKS, and Nancy FOWLER, both born in Alabama according to the death certificate of their son, James J. Stacks. He was listed as married, but no name of his wife or his children was given. The info on the certificate was given by the undertaker, a Griffin STACKS of Scott Co. We have found Griffin Stacks and his family (who maybe relatives) on the 1910 census for Scott Co., but have been unable to find James Stacks on any census so far. Of course, as he was born in 1882, too late for the 1880 census, the 1890 is lost, and we cannot find him in either 1900 or 1910 and as he died in 1919, the 1920 will not of course, show him. We have checked for his widow Mattie L. Holiday STACKS and her 3 daughters also to no avail. SInce I subscribe to Ancestry, and Tina does not, I am trying to fit searching her Stacks lineage into my free time. I have found a Samuel F. Stacks and wife Nancy on the 1880 census, with many children, the youngest b 1879. They may have had James J. 3 years later in 1882. As I said, I have not had much time for this, but I have taken a quick look at the genealogy posting on rootsweb, ancestry, etc. and several researchers are giving the parents of Samuel F. Stacks, as Thomas Stacks and Elizabeth Neighbors. Then showing Thomas Stacks, father as William Stacks, who lived from 1764 to 1865, and Willliam's father, as a John Stacks who died in NC. It would seem, from what I have found so far, her Stacks ancestors travelled from NC to SC to GA to AL to Mississippi and then Arkansas. Therefore, I have many states, counties and surnames to start checking. At this point, I beleive that you and Tina each have Thomas Stacks as a 3rd great grandfather. All of this must at some point be proven, but so far, it seems: John Stacks, died NC William Stacks b SC 1764, died in 1865. Thomas Stacks, who wed Elizabeth Neigbors, Samuel Stacks who weds Nancy Fowler James J. Stacks who weds Mattie L. Holiday Lucy Faye stacks who wed Noah Earl Rainwater Cisco Rainwater m. Elenaor Lengnick Christianne Susanne Rainwater, children Please get in touch, thanks for your attention.
