    1. [MSTIPPAH-L] SHANKLE/Tippah Co
    2. I'm curious abour a Willie Shankle of Tippah Co. He was in the 1850 & 1860 censuses(born about 1800). In 1860 my gt gt grandfather's brother is listed in Willie's household, and I am wondering if there is any connection. My gt gt gt uncle was Samuel Noah/Noe and he was 17 in 1860. Samuel's brother, my gt gt grandfather Thomas R Noe, married Martha Perkins of Tippah Co. in 1861. (We dont know where Thomas was in 1860). Martha's maternal grandfather was Fredrick Collins of Tippah County-in 1850 Willie Shankle is enumerated in the census directly next to Fredrick Collins. So, any information on the Shankle family, and particularly any possible connection to Noe/Noah, Collins, or Perkins families will be much appreciated. Thanks, Jack Noe

    1. [MSTIPPAH-L] James C. DAWSON family of Tippah Co. MS
    2. CGM
    3. Hello List, My oldest DAWSON ancestor and brick wall, James C. DAWSON, was one of the earliest settlers of Tippah County. I'm looking for any info on him and his descendants, especially where he might be buried. He's not listed in the cemetery books. James C. DAWSON Sr. (sometimes called John Sr.) was born abt. 1775. Believed to have married a Mary MARTIN in TN, though no marriage record has been found. A cousin tells me James' will was proven in Tippah County in 1845 - I'd love to know if there are any original papers still available. According to Goodspeed, James DAWSON was a "Home Guard" member in Hardeman Co., TN, 1838. I have a "feeling" that his father was a Revolutionary War patriot. A family Bible lists all 9 of the children of James and Mary, born between 1801 and 1819. They are... Drucinda (married John GOAD 18 Sep 1823 Williamson Co., TN) John Martin (my ancestor, married Phoebe Rhoda REYNOLDS 19 Aug 1825 Williamson Co., TN) William H. Robert Anderson (my cousin's ancestor, married Sarah N. McCALL), Elizabeth Lewis W. Nelson C. (married Martha \\ bef. 1840) James C. (married Sarah BROWN 8 Jan 1839 Hardeman Co., TN) and Nathaniel Nicholas (married Julia Ann CHISM 14 Oct 1841). Is there anyone on the list who is in Tippah Co. and is willing to do research for cost or maybe a small fee? Chandra Dawson Martin
