    1. [MSTIPPAH-L] Price family
    2. Would like to swap info with anyone researching the PRICE family in and around Tippah Co. Am descended through Martin D. Price (b. abt 1801 and married to Elvira LOVING), and his daughter Sarah Jane Price (b. Jan. 1836). Sarah Jane PRICE married on Jan. 3, 1860 in Tippah Co. to Alfred W. CAMPBELL (b. 2-27-1829, d. 9-26-1912). Alfred Campbell is buried in a very small family plot just off Campbell Road at Walnut. Sarah Jane is supposed to be buried at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at Ashland. Can someone verify this and perhaps give me the dates off her stone? Does anyone have info on this PRICE family? Sarah Jane also had these brothers and sisters: Ed, Landon, Preston, Elvira, and Mary Ann. Thanks.

    1. [MSTIPPAH-L] Marlow Cemetery at Walnut
    2. Does anyone know how I can get a list of ALL burials at Marlow Cemetery? My grandfather Carl Gleason CAMPBELL (1912-1971) is buried there, but I don't know where. His grave was never marked. Would anyone have a plot map of the cemetery or know where I could get one? I would very much like to find his grave and have it properly marked. It would have been much easier if my grandmother Geneva Elizabeth POWELL Campbell (1910-1987) had been buried beside him, but alas she was not. She is in the Chalybeate Presbyterian Cemetery. Thanks for any help.

    1. [MSTIPPAH-L] Cemeteries and such
    2. Melissa McCoy-Bell
    3. Hi everyone, I went to Tippah County over the weekend and I go quite often but this time I got a little cemetery crazy and I took some pictures of some old tombstones in a little cemetery that my ancestors must have donated over a hundred years ago to the people of color in the community. Anyway, I added a few to the online lists. If anyone else is interested in logging the African American graves in Tippah I'm taking volunteers. None of the graves are listed with what's online now so it would be a totally new project. On the way home, after I entered Benton County I turned down the Saulsbury road that leads to Hopewell Church. Hopewell is a community right on the line of Benton and Tippah Counties. After stopping at the Hopewell Cemetery I decided that I would just continue North to Saulsbury cause I had heard that I had relatives buried in a cemetery called Sand Flat somewhere in that area. I didn't find Sand Flat cemetery, however I did find an Antioch Cemetery. This was a very strange cemetery because all the new graves were up at the front near the road. There was a large space of empty land and then there were all these really old graves from the decade before the Civil War. I checked online in Benton County and I didn't find any of the graves listed. Does anyone know anything about this cemetery? It's about a mile south of Old Stateline Road. There isn't a church near it anymore and I don't know if there ever was. Any help would be appreciated. There is an Antioch Cemetery in Tippah but it's not near this one, the older gravestones were very ornate and most were broken or sinking into the ground. The newer graves were from the Black family. If you know anything about this cemetery please contact me. Thanks, Melissa McCoy-Bell

    1. [MSTIPPAH-L] Diary of Sgt. A.L.P Vairan, Co. B 2nd Miss. Infantry
    2. Walter Cox
    3. I just put a new diary on The Tippah County Confederate. It was written by Augustus L.P Vairan 1861-1865 and edited by Andrew Brown, author of the Tippah County History. The URL for The Tippah County Confederate is http://www.rootsweb.com/~mscivilw and it can be found under the Units section under the 2nd Miss. Co. B was made up of mainly Tippah Co. men. There is already a diary of Capt. Buchanan of Co. B there. There is a big gap in the diary since he was wounded and taken prisoner at Gettysburg and then furloughed home for a year after his exchange. Andrew Brown also includes a muster roll of the Co. when originally mustered in and a list of men recruited afterwards.
