    1. [MSTIPPAH-L] New Salem Church Records
    2. Melissa McCoy-Bell
    3. Hi everyone, I uploaded the New Salem Primitive Baptist Church Records this week. The files are filled with information about citizens who lived around Walnut during the years of 1848 to 1925. A special thanks to Virginia Murphree for providing us with these records. The link: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mstippah/NSindex.html New information was also posted on the Family Reunion Page. If you have an upcoming family reunion and would like to add it to this page, just drop me an email with the information and I will be happy to add it. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mstippah/reunion.html I'm still looking for pictures of Tippah County communities during the first part of the last century. If you have pictures of school groups or towns before the 1950's, please scan me a copy save it as a jpg file and attach it to an email. Couple of good links are: Patriotic Graphics, by Angel - Dave Wall. Dave designed the graphics for the Tippah Page. He passed away a couple years ago but made some great patriotic graphics that are still out there on the web. http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/4601/patriotic.html And if you haven't searched with the search engine Google, you must try it. www.Google.com Have a great weekend, Melissa

    2. Melissa McCoy-Bell
    3. Hi everyone, Someone on this list still has a virus that sent an attachment back to me when I last sent a post to the list. The list of attachments that start this virus is locate on the link below. Check out the site to see if you have received one of these attachments and to see if your system is infected. If you do have this virus McAffee has updated their files yesterday to remove this stubborn virus if you download their latest update. Go to the site and download their update and run the scan on your system to remove it. Go back to this site and follow the directions for manual removal to make sure your system is totally clean after running the scan. If you use Norton's I'm sure they have a similar update. http://www.mcafee.com/anti-virus/viruses/badtrans/ Melissa McCoy-Bell

    1. [MSTIPPAH-L] John W. Carter b.abt.1839, d.1850
    2. The 1850 Mississippi Mortality Schedule has the following: Tippah Co.: "CARTER, JOHN W. died Jan. 1850, age 11 years, born in MS." Does anyone know the parents of this John W. Carter? My ancestors JAMES CARTER and SALINA R. DEAN lived in Tippah Co. MS from about 1838 to about 1851. Before moving to Tippah Co., they had a son William L. born 1837 in Hardeman Co., TN. As far as any other records say, they did not have another child until 1841 when their son Robert M. was born in Tippah Co. His date of birth is consistent in every census. However, the 1840 census indicates they had two sons as of 1840. If this John W. Carter was their son, it would explain why the 1840 census said they had two sons as of 1840. John W. Carter died in January 1850, which occurred before the census was taken in Tippah County that year. Any information appreciated. S. M. Hitt [email protected]
