I did a bit of further digging, and it appears Argyle Rogers was a son of Bailey and Lucinda Rogers. Though the couple's son Argyle was born in MS, at least the oldest child was born in AL. The family then removed to Fayette Co. TN for a period, then on to Tippah Co. MS. My antennae went up because of my interest in locating descendant families of Argyle Taylor (b. perhaps 1782 or so - d. 1823 in Franklin Co. AL). As Franklin Co. AL is a fully burned county for the period Argyle Taylor was there (and for another 50 years), I have had to use alternate methods for tracking his kids --all of whom would have been expected to perhaps use the name Argyle in their children list. Though Bailey Roger's wife Lucinda is said to have possibly been a Ramsey, I remain interested in the idea that the Argyle Taylor name may have descended into this family as a result of blood connection to Argyle Taylor. --Carl

Hi, Fredreica -- Regarding your question on the following: Tippah County Death Notices 1836 - 1936 DORTCH, WILLIAM E., dec. (PR 1848) Elizabeth E. Dortch, William B. B. Dortch, Robert Dortch, heirs. It appears that William E. DORTCH probably died in 1848 (possibly earlier) in Tippah County, MS. According to the "The Handy Book for Genealogists" (9th Edition), such records would be held by the chancery clerk or probate court in each county. However, it appears that Tippah's records start in 1856. You might try contacting: Tippah County P.O. Box 99 Ripley, MS 38663-0099 (601) 837-7374 Good luck! Becky

(which means nothing except that I have not heard of it) He is not listed in my list of vets buried in Union County at http://www.rootsweb.com/~mscivilw/unioncovets.htm , but that doesn't mean he didn't fight, he just didn't come up in my research. Go to the Mississippi WWW Civil War Board at http://www.misscivilwar.org/wwwboard/general/index.html and post your question. (to confirm your findings on the soldiers and sailors system)

I am sending this information to both the Tippah and the Pontotoc List because I am receiving 4 to 5 "Worm" infected messages a week from people that are probably subscribed to one/or both of these list. There is at least two different "worms" infected attachments being circulating and they are being generated from list member's computers without their knowledge and are being sent to people whose address is stored within the infected computers. I don't think that the source is the people's address book, which is the most common method that these "worms" use, rather I think that the "worm" is somehow using the address on files that have been downloaded and stored within the computer. One thing that the current messages that have these "worm" infected attachments have in common is the "Sender's Address" seems to have a "_" preceding the person's address like "[email protected]". Please don't open an attachment from anyone that has the "_" preceding their address without sending them a message confirming that they did purposely send you the message with an attachment. I suspect that the message that you send to the address will be returned to you as being undeliverable. This method of spotting a Virus is just a tool and not even close to being fool proof. Don't rely on for protection. All the experts are still saying that you are not going to be infected by reading your E-mail, JUST FROM ATTACHMENTS. They also say that you should update your Virus Protection before opening attachments and I think that this is still the best protection.
