Posted on: Sunflower Co. Ms Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ms/Sunflower/140 Surname: Williams, Hatcher, Garrard, Bradshaw ------------------------- I have roots all in Sunflower County, MS. Mostly on my mothers side of the Family. They are Hatcher, Williams, Bradshaw, Garrard. Have a lot of relatives buried in the various cemeteries there. Mostly in the cemetery behind the Church of Christ, outside Rulville. Some are in Rome Cemetery. My mother was born in Sunflower county, Ms. She is Clara Louise Williams, born c. 1932. Her father was Leon Hutchinson/Hutchenson Williams of Sartartia, Yazoo County, MS. He was the son of George Pink Williams, who left Yazoo County, and lived in Sunflower County, most of his remaining years. He was married to Maggie Elizabeth Bradshaw of Yazoo County, MS. George is found on voter registration listed as Pink W. Williams. His father was George P. Williams and I believe that Pink changed his name to George sometimes during his lifetime. I always knew him by George Pinkney Williams. He served in the Spanish American War and I have a copy of his discharge. He was listed as fair complection, blue or grey eyes, light hair. His name on the discharge is Pink W. Williams. I have no proof who his father was, but do know that he had a brother and a sister. He and his brother would travel around the country side, hopping rail cars. I have pictures of him when he worked for the CCC, paving and fixing roads in the early 1900's in Sunflower County. He could not read or write and half the time the age on his papers were very wrong. He was born c. 1882. Maggie Bradshaw was 13 years old when she married him and died from childbirth, after having 12 kids. The last child died at birth and she died a month later. The old country doctor said she shouldn't have anymore kids, but she got pregnant anyway and died at the age of 42. She is buried in Rome, MS. Any info on this man would be greatly appreciated.
