I remember going by his house with Dad when I was a kid and for some reason I was think the he worked in the RR shops or crews. Dad was a conductor and worked for the IC from about 1952 until 1997. Seems like Simp made Dad some "Fire Dogs" out of track rails so that might be where I'm getting the RR connection. What is the Star Geography 101? Is there a link? The establishment of Star was solely by the RR. One reference I have as to the naming of Star was the honor was given to a RR VP's wife and she named it Star in that it was going to be shinning light to the state of Mississippi or something to that effect. Dad and I found that in a book at the Bay Springs library while doing some geanlogy research on his side of the family in Jasper County.
