    3. Mike, The sawmill at that location was originally the Pine Belt Lumber Co. (hence the name of the community and railroad stop- Belpine). It was there from 1909 until 1913. Ship Island Lumber Co. then logged out of Belpine by railroad from 1913 to 1919. They didn't use the mill there. Instead they shipped the logs to their mill at Sanford. In 1917 W. C. Wood Lumber Co. started logging by rail out of Belpine. This operation lasted until 1923, when it was sold to the Elton Lbr. Co., who built a mill back at Belpine. They logged by rail until 1936.
