I have photocopies of his probate record in Sumter county, AL. He appears to have been the son of James Tagert who died in Marengo county, AL in 1827, & the brother of John Tagert who died in Mobile, AL 1851(? - I don't remember the date offhand, but he is buried in Mobile & I can look it up if you like). We have DNA tested descedants of Jacob & descendants of John, & the DNA is a match, so we are 100% certain that they are descendants of a common ancestor, & from the records we have deduced that they (Jacob & John) were brothers & the sons of James Tagert (Jacob & John were named as administrators in his lengthy probate). You should be aware that there is a little bit of erroneous info relating to this family floating around on the internet, We are 100% certain of our info, with extensive public records, cemetery records, family Bibles & family lore, as well as DNA testing.
