It is a religous affair with day and nightly meetings/services. Some folks have cabins there. It has been an annual event since the mid-1800's, maybe as early as 1830's. According to the two volumn History of Rankin County, the Rhodes and other families settled in the area south of Pelatachie in the mid 1830's. I extend my apologies if I sometimes over-state what you may be aware of and the data and research you have performed.
