My grandfather's sister stated that Ella referred to James and Elizabeth as her 'uncle' and 'aunt,' but our family is uncertain as to whether this implied a blood kinship. I have spent many years searching, but the first trace that I can find of Ella is in the 1860 census record which you mentioned. I would love to learn more about the Hancock family and would be glad to pass along what little I have gleaned relating to James and Elizabeth.
