    2. Bill Davis
    3. Brian, I do not have the 2006 version but I do have a recent version (10 as I recall). I have updated over the years from my first version 4 and have found very little difference from year to year. I downloaded the link you sent and I do like the pedigree chart that seems to be an upgrade to the 2006 version. I think that would be helpful although you can get pretty much the same thing from looking at the descendancy tree view. If you have a real old version (if I read your message correctly you have a 2005 version) you cannot share files with people that have newer versions (at least that has been my experience). In that case it might be a good idea to upgrade. If the price is an issue I would stick with what you have as there are not that many advantages to newer versions. I think this is a marketing ploy by FTM to keep selling programs. If you did not have a program for genealogy this would be a good one to start with compared to others available on the market. I have seen a lot of discussion about this on the Internet in the past years and most of the input concurs with what I said above. Of course, there are differences of opinion and I respect those as different people have different needs. likes and dislikes. Good luck, Bill ----- Original Message ----- From: "Brian Nichols" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, August 04, 2005 2:22 PM Subject: [MSRANKIN] new genealogy program >I just saw at www.ftm2006.com <http://www.ftm2006.com/> the new version of > Family Tree Maker. It is a religous affair with day and nightly meetings/services. Some folks have cabins there. It has been an annual event since the mid-1800's, maybe as early as 1830's. According to the two volumn History of Rankin County, the Rhodes and other families settled in the area south of Pelatachie in the mid 1830's. I extend my apologies if I sometimes over-state what you may be aware of and the data and research you have performed. I enjoy assisting and encourage you to holler any time you wish assistance regarding the Rhodes or other famileis. Paul

There is a cemetery book for Rankin County. I am certain that Rhodes are listed for the Gulde cemetery as well as the Shiloh Church cemetery which is about five miles from Gulde. Cheers-Paul

    3. I have just started a website at www.genealogyclassifieds.com and would like to see if anyone wanted to list any old genealogy books or publications here. Its free and hopefully someone may have a book or society magazine someone else needs as well as putting some of the original cost you incurred back into your own pocket for new genealogical books or publications purchases. FYI, I started this because there are a lot of out of print books I am looking for and cant find anywhere to get them. Hopefully this will help me as well as some others in the process. So feel free to forward this to other list you may be members of. I receive no money from this in any way in case some of you were wondering.... Brian Nichols
