    1. [MSPONTOT-L] census look up Stewart/Stuart

    3. I need a census look up for 1860 and 1870 for the following family: My great great grandfather Andrew Jackson Stuart aka Jackson Stewart aka A J Stuart/ A J Stewart.... I don't know the wife of Andrew but his children were Meredith Leonard Stuart born approx 1858 in Iuka MS and a daughter Leona Stuart. Meredith would be about 2 years old in the 1860 census and 12 in the 1870 census. Andrews wife was killed and the children left on a rail siding. The children lived with the McCullough/ McCullock family. This is where Meredith got the nickname Charley. Possibly find in the 1870 census. I am hoping to find information on my great great grandfather who I have information on his enlistment to the confederate cavalry in 1863 in Koscuisko MS and was listed as Jackson Stewart though he signed his name Andrew Jackson Stuart or A J Stuart. Initially he was in company k, 2nd regmt MS Cavarly. I think by 1864 he was listed in the 4th regiment. The men enlisted from this and other surrounding counties. I was told that Andrew was thought to be killed in Seven Pines but wasn't, There was a possibility he was captured in Texas at the end of the war and paroled. His wife it was said was killed perhaps when Andrew was away so between 1863 and 1865 also the children I was told were left on a railroad siding. The children lived with a family by the name I think of McCullough where meredith inherited the name Charley. Any help I would appreciate. This has been a dead end for a long time.
