> Hi! I am researching Bacons. My ggrandfather was Waddy A. Bacon. He had a brother, William Henry and a sister, Harriet Parks Bacon Dickson who married James Rainey Dickson. My grandmother, Hattie Bacon Robertson, named my Mother, Lela after their daughter, Lela. The families corresponded at least until the 40's. I have a letter from two nieces of Lela Dickson but no address. It was Lela Dickson who launched my genealogical quest of the Bacon family. Around 1915, she made inquires to the then War Department about ancestors linking her to the Revolutionary War. The information she received and sent to my Mother gave me the name of my gggrandfather, Edmund Parks Bacon and from there, years later we have traced our line back to Captain Edmund Bacon, circa 1660 in Virginia. Records linking him to English ancestors were burned, although there are many theories regarding the connection. This September, I am going to England on a genealogical study and hope to make the connection there. I have had limited contact with William Henry's descendants but no promised details. My ggrandfther, Waddy Bacon took his family to homestead on Sarasota Bay in Florida in the mid 1870's. I have that pretty well covered but would like more information on his life in Mississippi.
