Ronnie, Mary Elizabeth Montgomery is probably a connection of mine. I have Montgomery connections who attended Campground Church. William B. Montgomery and Nancy Bronetta Montgomery (teachers at Campground Church) were brother and sister to my great grandfather, Thomas Evans Montgomery who married Fannie McCluskey. I don't have Mary Elizabeth Montgomery in my direct line, but I think it very probable that she is a cousin. There are lots of Montgomerys in the Pontotoc area. I am eager to exchange information, but I will be out of town for part of May. When I return on the 21st, I would like to look into this further. I'm not leaving for a few days yet, so please go ahead and email me if you like. I am a little distracted with planning and packing right now, but I am most interested following this up. Gene, What Johnson line are you researching in Pontotoc County? I am a descendent of Levi B. Johnson b. December 1812 in NC, d. 12 June 1902 in Pontotoc Co. and his wife, Sophia Bray through their son, Levi Bluford Johnson b. 11 April 1854 in MS. The elder Levi B. Johnson had a brother, James T. Johnson, who lived in Pontotoc County also. If these names sound familiar, let me know. Mary K. Annice, I have been researching the Jamison family. In response to your question about ???Jamison, Mona Jamison in Texas writes the following: "I am familiar with a Jamison line that is from Arkansas ( I don't think they are any close relation to us) only because they married into my mother's McCarley line in about 1850." If you will email me at rdstacy@blomand.net I will give you more info. Hello folks, My name is Pam Gibbs and I have taken over the MSGenWeb Pontotoc County Website from the capable hands of Barb Ceverny. The purpose of this e-mail is to tell you a bit about myself (hoping you will be patient with me). I live with my husband and two of my three children in Hattiesburg, MS, which is in the southeast part of the state. Pontotoc is a 4 to 5 hour drive. We are fully into the high school track season now--I cannot tell you how much fun it is to drive two hours, wait two more, and see my daughter run for less than a minute, and then drive home. I am also a band parent with a trumpet player and a color guard member, so we juggle that for most of the summer and fall. Jazz band cranks up in spring and this is my son's first year in that. I have grown accustomed to trying to be two or three places at once! I hope to make some minor changes to the website(such as getting my e-mail address posted there for you to use)in the next couple of weeks, and hope to do some site revisions and add some new material over the Summer. I need your help. If you have Pontotoc County material that you can donate please let me know. You don't have to know html or anything- I can do that if you can just get the information to me. My husband's mother Frances Bramlett married James Gibbs from Alcorn County, MS. Her family also includes the Gregory, Bishop, and Rhodes surnames, and they originally settled around Van Vleet in Chickasaw County and also near Houlka. The Bramletts settled at Springville in Pontotoc County. We still have family there and try to visit as often as we can. I had no idea this list was so large. We ought to be the most successful genealogy research group on the net with so many people participating! Thank you so much to Colleen for taking over the maintenance of such a large list! Her energy is contagious, and I am excited about taking over the website. I hope you all catch some of the excitement too! Pam Gibbs http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~gpakt

Hello Colleen, It took me a few days to respond because I didn't know what a Roll Call was. After thinking about it I assumed it was to recap who everyone was looking for. I didn't have the nerve to go near our computer until a year ago so I am still learning. I do appreciate the List and everyone who shares through it. Brenda Madden BTW: Welcome.
Pam! You did it! Congratulations! :-D And it all happened so quickly! Did you just write to Barb and tell her you wanted the site, or what? What a nice surprise, really. Now, with the two of us being new, the MSPONTOT list is REALLY shaken up!!! lol Colleen Greg Gibbs wrote: > > Hello folks, > > My name is Pam Gibbs and I have taken over the MSGenWeb Pontotoc County > Website from the capable hands of Barb Ceverny. Shanta, I guess it sounds like I started my answer in the middle of a sentence. The Mormon Church maintains a very large genealogical research library in Salt Lake City. In order to help people access their holdings they also have branches of this library which are called Family History Centers. If you go to the familysearch.org web site you will be able to find if there is a center near you. If so, you will find a very helpful staff to aid you in your search. They should help you get your search off on the best foot by giving you great tips on "how to" do your seaching. If they have the microfilms you need, you can use them for no charge. You can also order rolls of film for a small fee. You can also access this familysearch.org web site, where you can access many records, for no charge. Hope I have given you a better explanation.
