Could anyone tell me more about this? Oscar McKinney is my husband's grandfather. Oscar had an uncle named Samuel. Oscar's parents were Benjamin Franklin McKinney (of whom NOTHING is known) and Americus Annebelle Land, daughter of Jacob Land and Julia Stacy. Oscar married Agnes Idell Cooper. AYCOCK CONNELLY I need any information on Martha Ann Connelly (Conley). born 1834 in Davidson CO., TN, and married in Pontotoc CO. in 1849, to John Milton Aycock. I suspect that her brother was an Owen Connelly, who, I know, was married in 1847 in Davidson CO., TN, and was listed on the 1850 census in Pontotoc, along with a 12 year old named William Connelly. Owen was not old enough to have been his father; so I'm sure William was a younger brother. Any help greatly appreciated!
Sorry, don't know anything about your Hesters (although I have some in current day Ala),but Coonewar is located in Lee Co.,Ms., SW of Tupelo. In 1895, the popl. was 14 and they had a post office, but didn't have a RR or an express office. The site http://www.livgenmi.com/1895.htm shows where it was located in 1895. I have been trying to get information on Joseph Hester from Pontotoc Co. for several years. No one seems to know anything. It is almost as if he feel off the face of the earth. I'm going to write what I know and see if it triggers anything in any of your minds. Joseph was born in St. Clair Co, Alabama in 1827. He moved with his parents to Pontotoc Co in 1843. I THINK he lived in the Coonewah community. Where ever that is. He married Mary Ann Dunn in 1849; N. E. Foster in 1865, M. F. Harris in 1874; Josephine McKinney in 1888. He served in the Civil War in the 41st Mississippi Infantry. He served as county treasurer 1891-1895. Then served on the Board of Supervisors from 1895 until his death Nov. 15, 1901. He lived in the town of Pontotoc the last 10 years of his life and is buried in the Pontotoc City Cemetery. He belonged to the Methodist church. These are his children: Henry, Charles, Georgann E., Charity W.(listed in later census as Willie), Joseph A., Lula M., Smith, Adolphus, Eva. Willie and Eva both married John Henry Oglesby who was Sheriff of Lee Co. in the 1890- 1896. If any of this sounds familiar or if any of you have suggestions as to how I can learn more, please contact me. Thanks in advance. Carolyn Oglesby

Responding to the roll call listing Pilcher and Simpson............. I would like to confirm some information about Sarah Jane Pilcher. I don't have all my notes in front of me now, but I just can't wait to ask this. Did Sarah Jane marry William Hillsman "Billy" Heard? I believe this marriage occurred about 1908 after her first husband, George W. Simpson died. (Billy would have been about 62 at the time of the marriage.) Billy Heard and wife Sarah Jane are buried at Shady Grove Cemetery. Is this the right Sarah Jane? I am researching all the Heards in Pontotoc County (as well as Lee and Lafayette). Billy Heard is a first cousin to my grandfather, Stephen Heard. Would like to share more detail later. Thanks.
