I remember going there as a child. There is a pavilion where Presbyterian church services were often held. There is a historic marker there about Indian battles? I think. The Algoma Presbyterian church had homecomings there. I believe they are connected in some way. My father Curtis Walker was a photographer in Algoma. He took a picture of the marker when it was put up in around 1950. I was 5 ? years old, and was standing by it. It was in the Pontotoc Progress. I remember a lot of "historians" being there. I t is not far from the "Algoma Road" which turns west off Highway 15. By the way, does anyone happen to have pictures that Daddy made? Our home was destroyed by fire in 1959---I wonder if anyone might have pictures of us. I am Martha Jean Walker Knight, and my sister is Diane Walker Spears. Thank you. --WebTV-Mail-5074-1270--

Hi Maxine, For those of us that are ancient and have ancient ears that do not hear over a telephone, do you by any chance have a mailing address or email address for the Historical Society. I would also like to reserve a copy of this book. Which DILLARD line are you researching? Pat in CA
My sincere apologies to the list. Yesterday, 28 Apr I sent the list information about the Pontotoc court house and library. The information was for "Gloria Frazier" who had asked for help. I am so sorry my computer somehow eliminated her name from the top of my email. I will be careful in the future and appreciate the list being so kind about my dumb mistake. Fulghum64@aol.com
A lot of people are UNSUBSCRIBING. My DELETE Button is overworked. I don't even bother to open any.
Did you have any additional information There was Toy Linsey that was a law officer for the city in about 1972 or maybe 1974. Could this be yours. Carolyn Stewart

This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --------------CB3F7692CAC5291DB274A4B9 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Since the roll call, I have been receiving hundreds of MSPONTOT-L messages. Often I get multiples from the same individuals many of which are one sentence long. I appreciate the notion of the roll call, but hundreds of one line messages are not something I look forward to deleting when I turn on my e-mail. I would like to ask for some order to this well-intended maelstrom of e-mails. Could we have the names being looked for listed in caps at the upper left of the e-mails so that deleting could be quicker. For example start the e-mail with the following structure: PANNELL GRUBBS GARLAND LEMASTER That way, people know immediately that they are interested or not. They do not have to read the body, and are saved time when deleting the hundreds of e-mails. --------------CB3F7692CAC5291DB274A4B9 Content-Type: text/x-vcard; charset=us-ascii; name="rmanning.vcf" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Description: Card for Dr. Roger W. Good morning! I returned from the regional track and field meet in Meridian this weekend and found that you all have really been busy! A number of people have offered and sent information and more is in the works, and for the first time I can remember people on this list are actually sharing information! Yippeeeee! I'm working my way through the e-mail and will get back to each of you who asked questions or sent information sometime today. I have decided to spend at least 3 hours a day on getting the website set up on one server and updated and will do this until I get caught up with you. Be patient with me please, as this is nearing the end of the school year and I have field trips to chaperone, proms to prepare for, honors day to attend, and so on. Hi, I am new to the list. I am near Pontotoc County and while in the area would like to do some researching on some of my collateral families. Can I research at the courthouse? Does anyone know what is available at the Pontotoc courthouse? Available genealogy at the Pontotoc public library? (I have the address and hours per the MSGenWeb county site). I would be researching some migratory people from Robertson Co TN. Thomas and Susan Adcock Kidd were in Pontotoc County by maybe a little before 1840 to about 1852. Then went to Henderson Co TX (we have one deed for them) John Henry Adcock and Louisa Allen (possible first wife Minerva Fryer) (in Pontotoc about 1840 to before 1860) - looking for traces of Minerva if she was his first wife. John Henry and Louisa migrated to Henderson Co TX Beverly or Anderson Adcock - he is mentioned on that deed. Isaac and Joannah Adcock Basey (spelling) between 1840 and about 1852 in Pontotoc. Believe he died somewhere and she may have been killed in a massacre going to IL about 1852. Also searching for a trace of Zachariah Warren born about 1762 in Franklin or Henry Co VA. Was in Robertson Co TN 1821. Lost after that. Susan Adcock Kidd, Joannah Adcock Basey, John Henry Adcock and Beverly/Anderson Adcock were brothers and sisters and had lived in Robertson Co TN. Thanks for any help on how to research in Pontotoc MS county seat. Gloria Frazier

I have Mathis, Bray, and Harris in my database. Jim Bray of Chickasaw County married a Mathis, sister to my great grandfather, Sam Mathis. She died and Jim married a Fooshee, sister to my great grandfather, sister to my great grandmother, Eliza Fooshee. Sam Mathis and Eliza Fooshee daughter Daisy was my grandmother. Robin Mathis, of Houston, is my cousin. His father was a sister to my grandmother. Royce
I've searched for years for information on the Old Isaac. He is the only one of 6 children that has remained a partial mystery. I suspect Isaac may have been ill or for some reason been unable to work. He is in the household of his brother Samuel on the 1850 Census of Jefferson County Alabama. Samuel is listed as a farmer but Isaac doesn't have an occupation (and he is younger than Samuel). Isaac spent at least some time in Pontotoc County Mississippi near his daughter Lettie. Part of the problem may be that Isaac's first wife died. I don't know what happened to his children, for he had several, but by the time children were listed by name in 1850, all his children were gone and he was living with his brother Samuel. I believe unless we can find an Estate Settlement, Bible Record or some other legally binding paper, we will still be in the dark. I believe I've written to your husband before trying to see if he had any more information than I do. I hope you're having some luck with John F Fields. I'm having really good luck for about the past 2 months on 2 of my Lines (not Fields). Good luck in your search, Rebecca
Christine in Illinois, I notice you have an Allen line you're searching, too. Could they be related to mine? Donna Boyd
