    3. To: Bill Owen, I am glad to hear from you. I don't know the history of the area that I am searching. I should learn some of it. I think you were asking about Isaac Newton Rodgers, and if so, he was the son of my great grandfather, according to the information that my relatives told me. My great grandfather was William J. Rodgers, and he had 13 children that I was told about, one of whom was Isaac Newton Rodgers. William J. died 8-19-1913 in Springville, Pontotoc, Mississippi. Did Newt die there, too? If you knew any of this family, can you tell me something about them? Isaac Newton Rodgers was an own brother to my grandfather, A. Wesley Rodgers. I. N. had some half brothers, of which was Charlie Clifton (called Bud) Rodgers and John Henry Rodgers and Abner Alonzo who died in Calhoun County. There were also sisters. Wesley's family at one time lived around Randolph, MS. Hope to hear more of this family. The only thing I know of the Sanders is my grandmother, Lucy Sanders, whose middle initial may be S. Thanks for answering my question. I really do appreciate it. Ludean Kidd

    1. Re: [MSPONTOT] Rodgers/Sanders
    2. I find no Sanders in this book, but there are 5 references to Rodgers and 4 Rogers. By the way, you may be aware that Pontotoc County, near Redland about 6 to 7 miles south of Pontotoc on Hwy 15 was the national capitol of the Chickasaw nation, The Choctaw Indians lived further south and were the Chickasaw Indians nearest neighbor, and shared the same border. There were times when they were at odds with each other and would have border clashes. There are some Sanders families located in Lowndes County (Columbus), Mississippi area. Are you related to Newt Rogers who lived near Springville, Miss. in 1915? .............................bill owen......................

    3. Shirley: Thank you for the Colbert information. I believe that someone in Tippah County,Ms put together a genealogy of the Colbert family. Did you know about? What do you have on the death of James Logan Colbert? According to the recollections of Alexander McGillvaray of the Creeks, Colbert was on a return trip from Pensacola to Pontotoc and stopped by the home of McGillivaray, and a day or two later, it was reported that his horse threw him and he was killed. This was reported by his servant who was with him. Do you have any additional information? 3. Okay, Bill, I think you were replying to my query. Thanks very much for your response. Is there anyone out there who might happen to live close to either of these cemeteries, who could see if there is a Randolph Johnson and Elizabeth (Ashby) Johnson buried there? I believe Randolph died between 1850 and 1860 and Elizabeth died after 1860, that's all I know. 2. Ludean Kidd
    3. Libba, My uncle wasn't missing from us. His ex-wife, the girl's mother, wouldn't tell her daughter about him and raised her believing her step-father was her father. When the ex-wife died, the child found her own birth certificate and discovered who her real father was. I don't know what caused the marriage break-up. But from Arkansas to California was a long ways apart 70 years ago. I see so many of my family names among other Rodgers on this list. Looks like they would be related to each other somewhere. Sorry it wasn't helpful to you, Ludean
