    1. [MSNOXUBE] A LONG narrative, Hudson/Haynes
    2. E. Annette Rose
    3. Excuse me, but I don't really have anyone to tell about this latest "find". Besides, I/we still need a bit of help from some of you Hudson/Haynes researchers. The 1870 census of Noxubee county, MS. listed two John B. Hudson men, at two different locations (one in Shuqualak, the other "in Macon") each with a wife, one with "Rebecca", the other, with "Mary R.", and both with a daughter, one with "Mary", the other with "Mary M." and both daughters was aged one year. The difference in the age of the men...one as b. 1835 in GA., the other b. "about" 1842, also in GA. One, the man born 1835, is living in the household of Elizabeth Hudson. The other is living next door to Henry A. Hudson. (Henry is a nephew of Elizabeth, actually a double nephew....) [?Elizabeth has a son, John Henry Greer Hudson, who was in the asylum in Jackson, Ms in 1855.......also born 1835.] [I still question as to the possibility that this IS her son listed in her household?] Marriage records of Noxubee county show a John B. Hudson marrying Rebecca Haynes Feb of 1868. [Now begs the question which of these two fit this marriage?] An obit appears in 1874: Mrs. Rebecca Hudson, daughter of Benj. F. Haynes, died in Cleburne Texas 23 May....... 1880 census, Johnson county, Texas: John B. Hudson is listed with a wife named "Jinney" and a daughter, Mamie, age 11. And now, the rest of the story: Shari Guess contacted me a short while back in regards to "how can I find" my great grandmother, Mary M. Hudson, who was born in Shuqualak, 1869? A quick check of my records gave me the two "Mary's" born abt 1869. I relayed this information, and we started a fast and furious exchange. Let's shorten this down: John B. Hudson, born 1841, was the son of John Hudson, who was the son of Robert Hudson....a brother to MY Frederick Hutson/Hudson, whose son, John Hudson married Elizabeth Beasley. Shari knew that her mother had notes on the family along with a family bible "somewhere" but did not expect that she would ever find them, as they were in "storage" along with years of stuff collected by her parents. Shari knew enough to make some statements that caused me to begin to put things together, but then....she came up with that bible! John Brother Hudson had a brother, William Jefferson Hudson, who had made the entries in this bible. The very last page of entries stated: My grandfather's name, Robert Hudson. My grandmother's name, Candice Crow(e). When this last piece was relayed to me, I almost cried. I had those names. Not Candis' maiden name, but at least her first name. (Not positive on the spelling of that first name.) 1815........the Hudson siblings sold their father's land in Lunenburg county, VA. ... at that time, Robert, Ward, and Nathaniel H. Smith (sister Elizabeth's husband) authorized Frederick Hudson to act on their behalf. Robert was living in Jasper county, GA. 1817....Robert's wife, Candis, signed away her dowry rights while residing in Jasper county, GA. 1820 census, Japer county, GA..Robert Hudson is listed with three sons, all under the age 10. [One of those was "John", the father of John B. and William J. Hudson] Now.........Shari states that her grandmother had said that a 3rd great uncle Isaac had owned a plantation in Shuqualak. Does this mean that the Isaac Hudson who married Elizabeth Hudson in 1850 was also a son of this Robert Hudson? I bet it does, now I gotta find that proof! My family has passed down that Elizabeth had married as her second husband, her deceased husband's cousin. This would fit. >From my research, I have found that this Isaac is reported to be the grandfather of Hudson Strode. Hudson Strode wrote that his grandfather Hudson owned a large plantation and had an export business, with the plantation being in Arkansas and the export business across the State line in Ills. He also wrote that his grandmother had "snagged as her second husband, the General Hudson of Georgia." Then, he told of how his grandfather had lost thousands of dollars overnight on the stock exchange and died shortly thereafter. Unfortunately, the dates were not relayed to me...another located this information from a book written by Hudson Strode, a well known and respected college professor at the University of Alabama. In the bible, it is written that one of the sisters of John B. Hudson, Mary Candice Hudson married John Clark, and had died in Ciro, Ills. , 1866. [Was she/they living with her uncle Isaac at that time?] Isaac and Elizabeth Hudson do not appear on the 1860 census of Noxubee county. It is known that they "separated", could they have been living in/at the place of business or the plantation in Arkansas??? Could she have "come home" to Noxubee where she is found on the 1870 census? Or, as Isaac is referred to as "General", were they in GA.? >From the Haynes side of this: John B. Hudson married Rebecca (Mary R.) Haynes. She died in childbirth of a son, Isaac, who also died at that time, 1874. John B. Hudson married a second time, this time to Virginia Haynes (Jinnie), his sister-in-law. They had a son, Roy Hudson, who is mentioned in the obit of "Mary M. Hudson" as surviving her and living in Oklahoma. As the obit in Macon, Ms. stated "Mrs. Rebecca Hudson, daughter of Benj. F. Haynes..." We have a name for her father, but, again, which Benj. F. Haynes? Was he the son of Henry, son of Phelps, son of John, son of Henry? I need more help on this Haynes side. Anyone out there got some info. which will help clear this one up? Shari and I have a ways to go to exchange "all" our information. She states she has photos of Hudsons....can't wait to see those! ear
