Doris, the Historical Society of Noxubee county, Ms published a book: Abstracts of Wills of Noxubee co., Ms 1834 - 1910. There were no GREER wills. Entries with the surname of Greer appear, however no good solid info. on the GREER family appears except on later persons, i.e., women who married into the family's family. (The one GREER will belongs to a family group which came into Noxubee from Ireland.) Access to the deed books have not been available outside of the courthouse, to my knowledge. I have attempted to find any microfilmed copies of one, and thru LDS even, I haven't gotten my hands on any deed books. There are some records off the Internet on early land, with only the John H Greer showing up, not Abraham nor Robert. It may be that it was John H Greer who did all the land purchasing, acting as agent, for our families. If we can get to the tax records, we may find some information. Abraham was the eldest, as I have it, and it was his son, John H., who did the initial purchasing? One record, as I remember, shows that John Haynes Greer (note that it is not John Henry Greer) purchased either from or thru Joel Haynes. These would be those earliest land records on the BLM site. If you know where Abraham GREER is buried, maybe we can find where his sister, Lucy, was buried? I have heard that Lucy died in GA., another side of my family says she is buried on the Hudson plantation in Shuqualak, Ms., which is land her son, John Hudson would have purchased 1838.......I have not found any record of Lucy in Ms. Upon the death of her husband, Frederick, no mention of Lucy in his probate records. Here's hoping things get better in this search for records of the GREER family. God Bless, ear

I have a whole bunch of deeds for Kemper County that I want to look up, but the reels of microfilm are not in the catalog. On the last day I was in Salt Lake City, in May, I discovered that all the deed books I had been looking for had been microfilmed and were indeed in the library. The problem was/is that these films are so seldom used, they are kept in the VAULT. There was no time for me to request them, so I had to leave without getting the copies I need. Next time I go to SLC, I will request the films ahead of time and they will be waiting for me when I get there. I suggest you write to the Library and asked about microfilms of deed books for after 1886. They are probably in the vault too, and can be ordered, you just have to know what to ask for. Marleen
