Folks, Ancestry.com has taken over the "old" GenConnect Boards that we have enjoyed the last couple of years. The big change is not one that "we" like. You will be asked to sign up with a users name and password to view the boards. This part is free, but bothersome? Past posts have "been claimed" as copyrighted by Ancestry.com. That is frustrating in itself. There is some hope that changes will be made that will credit where credit is due. Because "we" seem to have lost control of our own posts, which at one time we manually posted (as webperson) but gave up to go automated, we are going to turn back the clock, so to speak, and go back to posting manually on our WebPages the queries and information you wish to have posted. Bear with me while I create that change. While we will post these manually to the pages, that does NOT mean you can't also use the "new" way to post. In fact, it is your choice. I feel it is not your intent for Ancestry.com to copyright what YOU write. It will be a day or so before I get that page fixed. In the meantime: If you want post something on the query board (Like just to stave off losing your queries with the new system) please write whatever and send it to me at earphoto@gonetgo.com Sometime in the near future, I will set up a new mailing address for the queries, but for now, just use mine. God Bless, ear
Hi: I am in California, and our CAGenWeb is reeling over this change also. It's not just the change, it is how secretly it was done, and how they have taken away our own material. We can't even back the queries up now. Some of our county coordinator's actually beta tested this system without telling us. Am a GenWeb county coordinator and am changing my query system also. There ought to be a way to get up a class action against the theft of our data. Is there a web site where this problem is discussed and cussed? Reply to troy_harper@bigfoot.com NOTE: If you email a Bigfoot user and get a bounce-back stating, "554 Access Denied from IP. See www.orbs.com for more information," then you should contact your ISP or your sending server administrator and THEY must contact ORBS (Open Relay Behavior Modification System) to get themselves removed from the ORBS list. ORBS tracks SMTP servers known to allow third-party relay (Open Relays). Spammers can connect to them from anywhere and do their dirty work. ===================================================== ----- Original Message ----- From: "E.
