State of Mississippi Noxubee County To the honorable R. Ruff Judge of Probates for Noxubee County, state aforesaid We the undersigned citizens of this county and neighbors of John Cockrell who is guardian of C. A. Parks and are acquainted with the said Miss C. A. Parks and are acquainted with what board of such a person is worth, and would say that four dollars per month is as little as any person ought to charge for such if they should pretend to charge anything. June 1st, 1855 J. C. Holmes S. M. McGraw R. Sullivan James Liddell W. Kirk Alexr. Young A. Young The guardian shows that the interest on the money of Cornelia A. Parks is not sufficient to support her he prays for allowance of $25.00 per year on the interest of her estate. Respectfully submitted John Cockrell Guardian 3 February 1855 The foregoing petition for self and others for an allowance of four dollars per month for board of said ward was filed in office for record the 2nd day of July A. D. 1855 and duly recorded this 21st day of October A. D. 1856 C. G. Bowen, clerk Note: Cornelia Parks was the minor heir of William Parks. Records indicate John Cockrell was also guardian of J. Jackson Parks and George B. A. Parks. Both minor heirs of William Parks.
