Probate records. Noxubee Court Records, Volume E, page 259 Judge: Reuben Ruff A. A. Bell, execturix of Tyrus Bell. Will of Tyrus Bell states that when any of his children becomes of age or married, he is "entitled to negroes to value of ten thousand dollars." A. A. Bell states that her son, Joshua Bell, has married. Also shows that her daughter, Susannah, has married a Wilkins. A. A. Bell has given these two children "negroes" and is asking the commissioners to value and report on both above causes. Filed 7 January 1856 and recorded 16 December 1856. p. 291 Adaline A. Bell, executrix of Tyrus Bell, sold "one negro boy named Perry" in January 1855 to J. J. Beauchamp for $800 and "one negro Alice" for $990. Record provides listing of negroes hired out, to whom, and amounts received. Three were hired out to William M. Bell. January 7, 1854 Sworn and subscribed 7 January 1856 by James S. Gray, Justice of the Peace. In 1856, Adaline Bell hired out additional "negroes" to Joshua Bell and William Bell. Volume F, pg. 401 Shannon R. Bell and wife Mary T. petition to receive Mary's part of estate of George W. Hopkins, deceased. Mary is daughter of George. George's wife is widow Mrs. Emeline R. Hopkins. December term 1857 Sworn and subscribed 30 December 1857 p. 409 Teagen Bell, daughter of Tyrus Bell, turns of age, and Adaline A. Bell is requesting that Teagen receive her portion of Tyrus' estate. December term 1857 Sworn and subscribed 23 December 1857.
