He was 28 and unmarried, born in Kentucky. Since your Thomas' son, John Francis was born in 1848 and that is the only date you seem to have I would say we need to be looking for another Thomas Phillips. However, I have not yet looked for him (the one in the 1850 census) in the 1860 census. He may be the one who married Lucy Ann Quick in 1851. However, I still can't be sure Lucy Ann was the daughter of the Martin Quick I'm tracking. Still need to do more research.
