I have names, but no dates on everyone. My grandmother's (Lula Phillips) father was John Francis Phillips. He was born in SC Feb. 16, 1848. Was raised near Macon, Ms. Joined the CSA at 16 yrs. He, his father and grandfather. He and his grandfather were in the same Co. Grandfather was killed sitting beside him eating a meal. John's father was Thomas Phillips, b. SC. He went to TX. befrore he married Elizabeth Ann Quick,, I think in SC> Then moved to Miss. John Francis married Martha Ann Merritt. She had a bro. named James B. Merritt. My letter was written in 1950, by my great aunt Dora Phillips. She stated that John was named for his grandfather.. She states that her mother's people were originally from Ireland and was named Plunkett. Her fathers were Scotch Irish and English. He was a Quaker. John was eldest of 6 childre., 3 boys and 3 girls. His family moved to Tx. in 1870. John and wife moved to Tx. in Feb. of 1871. James Merritt was in the Indian was and helped drive the Indians out of Tx. Somewhere I have a paper showing Elizabeth in the household of a Martin, But can not lay my hand son it right now to tell where I got it. If we have a match, please let me know. Thanks Jo Crafton
